P38A Is my mojo rising..... or do I need a new Driver Board?

Hi Rangie folks..... here's the situation:- Car is on pretty decent valve block and airsprings. Parked up with battery disconnected, the rears will drop before the front and take about 10 days to go from normal height to the bump stops. That's good enough for me. The reservoir and dryer are...

    installing hot start fix

 *ahem* Well, now, there, then......... I don't even know how to begin. Erm........ well...... you see out here, we don't get UK sized batteries. Well we COULD but they'd cost around 5x what you'd pay for them in the UK by the time they've been imported and taxed and delivered and...

    P38A Coil to EAS Restoration

Oh brilliant! Sure- go pick her up on the 30th and tell us how it went. Take pics too! A selfie in front of the car at delivery and then at 10 day intervals. We like to watch as the expression changes from excitement and happiness, to good natured face palming in an "oh well I was warned...

Oh! I didn't know there were regional versions of martys! Better check the voltages before you do anything either marty tells you. :D

    P38 replacement radio

LMAO!! No it's not that hard. Go through the thread with the assistance of the whiskey and soda (maybe cut out the soda if the reading gets too heavy) and post any questions you may have on here so that I can walk you through it like marty_nz walked me through my installation and anybody...

    P38 replacement radio

Actually... as you will see, it's marty_nz that I owe the success of the project to as he walks me through the entire process so that even someone with my level of knowledge in electronics ("Don't let the red and black ones touch!!") came away with a totally working, entirely reversible...

    P38 replacement radio

Sorry, not CD changer. I will need a Kenwood CD changer but the great news for me is that the Kenwood and stock Clarion stereos use identical cables between head unit and cd changer.

    P38 replacement radio

Here's the link to the thread...... I start about halfway through it and go through the whole 9 yards of Ray Ambler pi attenuators, the PAC Audio steering wheel control adapter, bluetooth adapter, reverse camera, diversity radio and finally got my Kenwood head unit working with the factory...

    P38 replacement radio

Man... I did mine a while back and it was a whole saga. Had to make attenuators for the door amps, had to use a PAC adapter for the steering wheel controls. Had to add a bluetooth module for bluetooth audio and handsfree telephoning.... and a reverse camera for the wife. There's thread of mine...

P38A EAS woes. I'm at the end of my tether

Yes I agree. It's very important to be methodical and patient when dealing with the EAS and I've learnt those virtues- which don't come naturally to me- expensively and accompanied by exquisite pain over the years and a live reading of the height sensor data from power up to shut down (compared...

P38A EAS woes. I'm at the end of my tether

OOoooo!! Thanks for that! Well, as a new height sensor is already en route, I sure hope it works out for @Gvmclean but I'm wondering why the ECU would command the nearside rear to drop if the height sensor was constantly reading 95-97, faulty or not. In order to drop, the exhaust valve (port...

Erm....... does anybody know how long the EAS "relay" delays the height sensor readings for? I don't and I'm trying to google it.

P38A EAS woes. I'm at the end of my tether

Erm.... how long from engine off to the drop to you reading off the value? I mean- how long did you wait from the time you turned off the engine to the time you read the height sensor value?
  15. DarthDude

P38A EAS woes. I'm at the end of my tether

Hang on- are you saying the height sensor reading for the nearside rear remained at 95-97 even after the corner dropped? How can you tell if you've switched off the engine?

P38A EAS woes. I'm at the end of my tether

Oh... btw- have a tyre pressure gauge handy. If one airpring is leaking then the remaining airsprings will need to bear more weight and this will cause them to compress, maybe even to the point of making you think that a perfectly healthy one is also leaking. If the car drops, check the pressure...

P38A EAS woes. I'm at the end of my tether

Good plan. Just try the Schrader valves, once you're confident they're not leaking themselves. First where they enter the valve block, and if the car still drops then directly onto each airspring. You'll need a few short lengths of airline to do this, and the rears are a bit fiddly but this...

P38A EAS woes. I'm at the end of my tether

Heh.... yeah the EAS can sure send you chasing your own tail. Since your suspension drops all the way down to the bumpstop at that one corner within a second of you turning off, I doubt you'll be able to get to the relay in time after turning your engine off to catch the car while it's still on...

    P38A Coil to EAS Restoration

+1 Height sensors are not worth saving money on. There's no backup so when they fail, 9 times out of 10 you'll be stuck with a hard faulted EAS. Oh... a set of Schrader valves- always carry a set of 4 in the car for when the height sensors DO fail. Don't be like me and get caught with just 3.

    P38A Coil to EAS Restoration

    - EAS ECU (RQT100040) - EAS Driver board (ANR3900) - EAS "Relay" (ANR4652) You might as well also change the air lines (6mm OD black air hose) and overhaul the valve block and compressor, even though they've been tested and working. There's a kit by X8R on ebay which includes the orings for the...
