Help with seals please oil v grease?

Well this is confusing. o_O Outer seal RTC3511G has two garter rings. Am I right in thinking pic 1 facing out, pic two facing in? It appears my seal belongs to someone called Angus, at least it's his name stamped on seal lol

Help with seals please oil v grease?

Forget that, just realised how stupid that question is. In theory no oil should be up there trying to get in lol

Help with seals please oil v grease?

Thanks gents Corteco seals it is then. On last question then the one that goes in the back of the hub I'm fine with. The one that goes in the front however I'm unsure of. Would it go lip side towards the bearing and flat face towards outer to stop grease coming out. Or other way around to stop...

Help with seals please oil v grease?

Got the Tim ken bearings too :) One of the other reasons I asked was I have corteco seals which are for greased and Bearmach (made in China generic seals) for oil fed.

Help with seals please oil v grease?

If going with oil fed bearings would you still grease them in instillation, or would this contaminate different oil? Cheers

Help with seals please oil v grease?

Oh yeah, front axle, sorry. My gut is telling me just frc8221 in rear of hub and leave the rest open to get oiled. Would this work or am I better off with grease and sealing the bearings in?

Help with seals please oil v grease?

Hi gents. Need a bit of advice please. I have a 1986 90 with orginal axle I believe. If definitely only has a level and drain hole in hub so should be filled with oil not grease. Just stripped everything apart and it has a front and rear hub/bearing oil seal. It also has a seal in stub...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Car went for it's MOT and I was told it failed and needed all this

That's not a £1000 worth of work. Couple of anti roll bar links is a piece of **** and should be less than an hour labour as per ball joints and pins, then a good thrashing with a fuel treatment in filter. I'd either have a go yourself or take it elsewhere for another MOT and work if required...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Couldn't do anything today, so I was forced to sit by the sea in Aberystwyth and enjoy the gold stuff. Miss the dirt rust and grease....best get another one in!

    EGR removal or Blank?

I doubt if anyone has ever failed a 300tdi for egr removal. The removal plates look more the norm than than the actual egr's.

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Today I cleaned up the hub and swivel housing, removed the old railko bush with a bfh and had an attempt at rubbing down a couple of small pits in the swivel ball which I've now filled with an epoxy resin. It's sandable when hard (24 hours)so that's tomorrow's job, going down to very fine wet...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Either that or the guy before packed his bearing's with runny poo:eek:

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Started from the outside and working in to the buggered swivel seal. I suspected more may need changing as when I drive down the road oil flings from the stub axel end. Looks like I was right!

    200 Tdi front UJ

When up-ending with shaft in the air, put it in the upturned wheel to act as a stand. Studs back through bolt holes from rear etc. Makes it easier to work on. Saw it on Bitanica Restorations on the tube

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Today I stripped down the starter from my 90 and gave it a good polish/sand/clean and refitted. Yay!! Now starts on the button with no slow turnover.
