    Any other symptoms? If it's fuel starvation, I'd check the fuel lines from the tank to the lift pump. The lift pump sucks fuel from the tank to the engine bay. If there's a small leak in a line between the tank and the pump, it sucks in air, which starves the engine of the fuel. Worth checking...

    I've managed not to put petrol in Red Rover (the diesel one) so far. I'm hypervigilant every time I fill up now I've got Brown Rover (petrol) too. I'm hoping if I ever do make a mistake it's petrol in Red, not diesel in Brown - the 200TDI will burn petrol, not sure the Rover V8 would appreciate...

    Filled up with diesel, no leaks, drove 150 miles, no vacuum in the tank. Really hoping this is the end of the saga of the buggered fuel system. Wonder what the next will be!

    I've had a BMW X3 before, and it was bloody awful. The interior looked 15 years older than it was (it was only marginally more modern than my 1988 Rangie, and it was 20 years newer). The doors leaked, as they do on all BMWs. It was just nowhere near as nice as my Rovers. I've had hot hatches...

    Some Landies with on board diagnostics are definitely in the Munchausen's camp! I just listen to mine, and it usually tells me what's up... eventually. And I usually find something else that's nearly wrong on the hunt for the original issue :rolleyes:

    The big difference to me is you can turn a car off to do jobs on it, fixing people is like a car you can't turn off, and it's a bigger problem if you do something that messes up how things are running :D
