I`ve been scouring the net and this forum looking at security steps for stopping a Land Rover getting nicked. Best 2 I have found are:- 1. Steering wheel DISCLOK 2, Pedal locks, various. but total closure seems best deterant? Eg, X-Engineering Pedal Lock So, my question is, what is wrong with...

Harrogate Land Rover Show this weekend

Will this be worth going to? I've done my fair share of car shows, but nothing 4x4 off road type stuff. Don't want to turn up and see an empty field Tim

Second thoughts over buying a Landy. please help

I could leave our dog in the vehicle, but if it got nicked with the dog in it, the wife would kill me! The pupster is higher in the pecking order than me!

I`ve been reading that the `clutch claw` and pedal covers etc like this X-Engineering Pedal Lock aren`t all they are cracked up to be?

Second thoughts over buying a Landy. please help

I was considering a mid/late 90's defender 90. I don't a bit of rough transport, and it can't be as bad as driving my 1944 Willys jeep to Normandy in France a few times from Notts.......

It was a defender I was looking at, more for the practical side really, easier with the dogs. I had considered the Disco, but having read about the rust problems, and my dogs aint the cleanest......... Erm, Freelander? Erm......... Tim

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Unfortunately, its a sign of the times that sh*ts that steal get away with it. I've read loads of threads on here about different levels of security. And I don't mind fitting some of the devices. Short of keeping a tiger in it or burying it every night...

Second thoughts over buying a Landy. please help

Hi guys, After much deliberation and thought, I had finally narrowed down all the criteria for my first Landy. However, and partly due to my previous ignorance before joining this forum, I hadn't realised that these vehicles where such a big target for thieving scrotes. I had planned on it...

    what should a defender cost?

I guess it was hell of an open question! I suppose the age on the reg plate is slightly more incidental than on normal cars? Servicing, care, upgrades and life style seem to be indicative to price. Tim

    what should a defender cost?

Yeah, I guessed it was a dumb question. So anything between £1500 and 5 grand? That'll naorrow my search down a bit

    what should a defender cost?

Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble getting an idea of the average price of a defender. I realise that year, condition, mileage etc will affect the price. But looking through Evil-bay and Autotrader the prices seem to go from too cheap, to how f@@king much? I'm looking for a '95-'01 Defender, 90...

    Confused over road tax

Hi, I've just sold a Transit, and that was @ £215. Yet I've got a Citroen Crosser, and I don't think its a deal more. Can't remember where I read the pre G reg thingy. Cheers Tim

    Confused over road tax

Ah, I see. So panels are classed as commercials? So what's with the pre G reg thing? I'm prob going to be looking at late 1990's, maybe early 2000's Tim

    Confused over road tax

By van, do you mean panel 90 or 110 as oppsed to station wagon? What year is it? Cheers Tim

    Confused over road tax

Ok thanks But if I`m only shopping at the moment, a years difference could mean a few quid extra on road tax Tim

    Confused over road tax

Hi folks I`ve been searching for fookin ages, and I can`t seem to find an explanation as to what road tax is paid depending on year. I`ve seen that the new ones cost a shed load to tax, but is there a date where its cheaper? By which I mean post free road tax, IE 1980s 90s etc I...

What would be the ideal combination

Well I don`t mind a bit of work, I had the 90 county in mind when I posted the thread. But as the Defender is a little of an unknown to me (Its evolved a little from the WW2 jeep it was sort of based on) I was wondering what to look out for that isn`t obvious. Then there are the tyres etc.

Thanks for the reply, I always think its worth asking what different people think is the best. Amazing how many different things there are Tim

What would be the ideal combination

Hi folks, Just got on here and dropped a post in the intros bit. I will be looking for a Landy of some sort in the not to distant future, and don`t really have a strict set of criteria as to what it needs to be. So, I was wondering if anyone on here (I`m sure you all have an opinion on the...
