    110 defender carpeting ideas?

I took the front mats out and threw them away, then removed the padding around the footwells. It just traps water and dirt.

Ninety fuel and temperature gauges not working

When I indicated the readings on the temperature and fuel dials gradually dropped. When I cancelled the indicator the readings slowly recovered. Then the indicators stopped working and the gauges read zero. The relay was full of water so I replaced it. That didn't help. The fuse (3) was not...

    Agreed valuation con (flux)

Just renewed mine with Adrian Flux, no problem with the valuation (which was more than I paid for it) and speedy response with paperwork :-)

    Rear wiper not working

Neilly, Just popped out and got one, it works. Hurrah! I bought a Fluke because I was wary of the cheapy meters, how wrong can I be? Thank you :-)

    Rear wiper not working

I bought a Fluke 101 as it had good reviews and did what I wanted. It arrived this morning and was faulty, couldn't do a continuity test or read the voltage of a new 1.5v battery, both sockets were dodgy. Could you recommend a basic meter for under £50?

Ninety fuel and temperature gauges not working

I had a similar problem when the indicator switch was faulty and draining power, they work off the same fuse.

    Rear wiper not working

I know it's OK for the MOT but it's the only bit of the Defender that doesn't work properly. At the moment! I should have left it alone. So far I've bought a new motor, rear wiper arm, rear door card and searching for a multi meter. However, I'm learning a lot :)

    Rear wiper not working

Iamrobbie, Thanks, I crawled under the back, it had a new rear cross member, there was lots of tape and loose wires. I undid the tape but couldn't see any obvious problems. I had it treated with Dinitrol last year and that had made diagnosing wiring issues difficult, the loom looks like tree...

    Rear wiper not working

Blue Beasty, Thanks for moving the thread, I'm still trying to figure out the forum's workings. I had thought about a multi meter, I'll get one from Halfords :-)

    Rear wiper not working

I have read the relevant threads. I have a Defender Tdi 90 300 1997 hardtop. When I bought it the seller told me the rear wiper worked occasionally. I looked at it and the drive shaft coming out of the motor was rusted solid, I couldn't move it. I bought a new motor and fitted it. It still...

    No transfer box oil!

It was the wading plug hole. The garage didn't charge anything :-)

    No transfer box oil!

Neilly, Just had a look at the download, it's the same as the version I have :-)

    No transfer box oil!

Neilly, I've got a pdf of the full workshop manual from Land Rover, it's diagrams in the Maintenance section are not very good. I'll download the RAVE manual and compare them, presumably they are different?

Disco1BFG, Thank you, I found the link :-)

    No transfer box oil!

neilly, Yes, I've had a look at the workshop manual, that's what made me think it's the drain plug. I'm going to the garage tomorrow to find out :-)

Speckydude, Thank you, yes I will :-)

    No transfer box oil!

Marmaduke, Thank you, I think you are correct. The garage is good, I'll post their conclusions :-)

    No transfer box oil!

It's at the garage now so I can't be 100% sure, it was a horizontal threaded hole in the bottom of the box. I checked the workshop manual and YouTube and I'm fairly sure it's the drain plug, some small oil spots on the gravel drive as well. If it wasn't tightened correctly at the last service...

    No transfer box oil!

Hi, My first post, I've been reading the forum a while. Today I noticed that the drain plug on the transfer box of my 1997 Tdi 90 300 was missing. Is it possible for the nut to work loose or has someone deliberately removed it? any ideas?
