The Aircon has got a missing belt to the pump. I’m not sure of the state of the Aircon to be honest. If I desperately needed to keep the car dry then that’s the next project. On the subject of keeping the inside dry though I had planned on using a dehumidifier overnight once a month or so

To be honest there wasn’t any cracks in the fan from what I can see. When the fan was on and engine cold the fan would spin but very stiffly. I’m going to have a proper close look at it tonight under some better light. Don’t worry I won’t forget, I was actually just thinking about that now

Spanner is indeed a real one. Already got the viscous coupling off. Didn’t take too much force thankfully. Yes I’ve got the tensioner you’ve described. Pulley arm isn’t seized but is a little stiff. Moves fairly freely but not fluid super freely

Spoke to the previous owner (family friend). Water pump has been done fairly recently? Worth the ri I am quite interested in the idea of utilising the AC fans. As my air con doesn’t work anyway. how would one go about ensuring they find out the rad isn’t partially blocked?

Belt doesn’t seem to jump around much. Seems the fan is very “out of balance” (if that’s a thing) - however you are right in saying that probably the play in the water pump. Did you manage to hear the noise? Don’t worry. Water pump on order, the metal one you said. It’s getting done next week.
