Brand New Fuel Tank Preparation - Tips

From my research it’s the Britpart ones that don’t fit. Mine is a different manufacturer and the seller assured me the necks are in the right place. Just to summarise the above - are we saying that it’s probably not worth the faff of trying to sand down powder coat, prime and paint relative to...

Brand New Fuel Tank Preparation - Tips

I am totally happy to replace every 10 years or so. If you think I'd get that out of a new tank without the faff of sanding/oiling/painting (which is probably £50 (half the tank value) in products), I'll probably just leave as it is. It's only if it'll be dead in 2 years if I don't that'd make...

Not a double skin base as far as I can see but has a stone guard which means the metal no the bottom is ultimately double thickness (that may be what you mean). Tom

Brand New Fuel Tank Preparation - Tips

All, Just got a brand new fuel tank for my Series 3 (the last one was a colander with anything more than 5L of petrol in). Its come with a very thin powder coating (see attached). Can people share their thoughts as to how best to test and prep? Can I test for leaks with water or is that a bad...

Defender 2.3 petrol engine to series 2a vehicle.

Hi 88lr63 - just seen this thread and see you also have an 11H (2.3 from an early ninety). I am also having issues with the starter (I understand the correct part is the M78R type, 9 tooth). I still get grinding on starting. Given you’ve fixed your issue, can you see if my thread on the same...

Series 3 Gearbox Practice - Is this a good idea?

Thanks guys. Any ideas on sourcing a gearbox, what to look out for and cost? A lot on eBay look rusty / grubby - am sure they can be largely polished up but any tips welcome. Tom

Series 3 Gearbox Practice - Is this a good idea?

Hi All - quick one. I have a series 3 which in time I want to rebuild eventually. I don't have time or space now to do the whole thing but am itching to better my skills and get stuck into something. The gearbox is certainly something I will need to do as part of that (3rd gear pops out and 1st...

    Help with a valuation 2013 110

Hi all - any chance people can help me with a Land Rover 110 station wagon I’m selling? It’s 2013 with 39k miles. In dark green, wolf alloys. Not the XS model (basic spec). Diesel manual. Well cared for. Struggling to work out it’s value as most defenders are either (1) not for sale or (2) XS...

    Starter grinding timing conundrum

That’s pretty much exactly what mine is doing. It’s a new starter though as per the manual for a 2.25 (branded 2.3) petrol from an early ninety. What was the solution in the end?

    Series 3 Backfiring or popping

Thanks - was easy to do and problem sorted. I’d not used it for a month and I think fuel had got a bit sticky. Now adding additive as gather that can help. Tom

    Starter grinding timing conundrum

Hi Team - need some diagnosis brain storming for a Series 3 as still no progress on this one. As a reminder, the problem is an occasional nasty grinding noise when my 2.25 petrol is turned over. This leads to an abrupt stopping of the engine turnover. Sometimes happens / sometimes not. Relevant...

    Series 3 Backfiring or popping

Weber 34 ich - I got the impression from people’s description that you could just unscrew, clean and out back without draining/removing/rebuilding. Is that correct?

    Series 3 Backfiring or popping

How easy is it to clean idle jets? Can you literally unscrew them and give them a clean and replace? Or do you have to take apart the carb/ drain all full, etc. to do this. Thanks
