    Snapped u-bolt

Now I've started using my 2A on the road after a lot of work in the garage, and fitting new springs and u-bolts,I thought I should torque it all up properly. I've read different opinions for u-bolts between 58ftlb and 65ftlb, so I got everything clicking ok at 50 and then went for 60. Snapped a...

    Scott's Series 2A

Just a still from the home movie so far.. I'll take it up the lane in the week and take a few better photos to mark the milestone. :)

    Scott's Series 2A

Well we went round the block a few times this morning. Brilliant fun! Brakes are pulling slightly left but hardly noticeable, I'll adjust them slightly. I've never driven anything this age before.. by my last lap I'd managed to get right round without crunching any gears so it looks like things...

    Scott's Series 2A

Doors are in. Floor seatbox and seats are in. Wings are back on, new lights in all round on the front with a new autosparks harness for them, added new relays for the headlamps. Got a set of defender tubeless rims with good tyres on (for £50!!) to get me going. Taxed (£0.00p) and insured...

engine block coolant drain plug - sealing

Ok. Can I wind it in with the loctite wet while coolant is still trickling out or is it better if the thread is as dry as possible when I do this? I'm thinking about switching to a drain bolt with a crush washer, and this loctite, and then never touch the thing. I can flush the block through in...

engine block coolant drain plug - sealing

@Blackburn would you use ptfe tape with that stuff as well? I haven't used loctite products before.

engine block coolant drain plug - sealing

I've replaced the coolant drain plug in my engine block. Foolishly, I went to use the old one and found it was only keeping coolant in because it was clogged up behind it. Once I cleared that the coolant ran out and I couldn't stop it because the thread on the t-piece of the tap had stripped...

    Main beam panel warning light

    Haha no it’s not. ‍♂️

    Main beam panel warning light

I’ve been out and It’s visible in the dark. That’ll do for me it’s working after all. I’ll bear the led bulbs and jewel sets in mind but until I’ve eveb driven the thing in daylight it’s a way down the list. Cheers guys.

    Main beam panel warning light

I actually stopped drinking my beer for a moment there and thought "How has he got a photo of my dash!?" :D Yeah. Looks like the jewel set would fit. Not sure I need to drop 50 on a new speedo though.. although I might find that's broke too when I drive the thing. When the boy's in bed I'm off...

    Main beam panel warning light

I don't like things that don't work. :D No, my lamp is between my COLD choke light and another on my right hand instrument panel. When I've wired up my headlights and driven the thing on the road I'll tell you! :)

    Main beam panel warning light

The LEDs are not entirely my thing but if I go out tonight and still can't see the main beam one through the lens I might fit an LED bulb to that one. :D

A set of these Col? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Series-3-Dash-Gauge-Light-Bulbs-8x-LED-BA7S-E10-Green-Fitting-Set-Kit-/272736819708 They all just screw into the original bulb holders do they?

dip and main beam wires from foot switch to lights

ok. I've been wondering what the headlamp wiring on the autosparks front light harnesses I have here is rated for. Seems there's no point using a fuse in the relay any higher than what that wiring would take.. regardless of what I run from the solenoid to the relays as a feed.

    Main beam panel warning light

My old bulb wasn't working for exactly the same reason, the solder pad on the bulb had work away. When I screwed a new one in it worked fine. I watch the light from it on the inside of the holder as I insert it as far as I can and I'm 99% sure it's not going out. I'll have a look later when...

    Main beam panel warning light

Long story short.. I got the main beam warning light working in my dash today, but I can't see it through the blue lens in the instrument panel. I watch carefully as I insert the bulb into the back of the panel and I can see it is still shining as it goes in. It's not going off as far as I can...

dip and main beam wires from foot switch to lights

Thanks. I've ordered the bits I'll need, and I'll use 15A fuses. I take it I only need the thicker wire on the hot/positive side of the fuse? Not the lamp side aswell?

dip and main beam wires from foot switch to lights

Ok. I've not done much electrics before. Having read up a bit I agree relays sound like a good idea. I could mount a pair on the rad panel on the O/S near my battery. I've read supplying them from the starter solenoid is a good idea, but I don't know why that would be better than the battery...

dip and main beam wires from foot switch to lights

I've got a S2A I'm fitting new front lights and light harness to. When I got the vehicle the wiring was bodged about a bit so all the front light wiring got removed at the same time as several spot lights.. wire wrapped around chassis and hanging from under steering wheel and so on. Trust me it...
