Ticking (alarm/immo) noise at first start, goes away after restarting

While trying to identify if the fuel pump was not working because of an electrical issue, I noticed that the relay in the relay box behind the gear stick (the one on the far right) was ticking some of the times when I was starting the car. Replacing that relay solved the problem. Thanks everyone...

    90 worth more than 110?

Clearly the 110 is more practical in every respect except hardcore offroading, which not all or even most owners will be exposed to.. The 90 is also better to park, so in big cities it is not a non-issue:)

Sealant for rocker cover gasket and sunp gasket

Ok, guys, now I've researched the topic more and have found that Island4x4 and Britpart list Loctite 5900 and 5980 as an equivalent for STC50550, which is recommended in the TD5 manual. Will go with that..

Sealant for rocker cover gasket and sunp gasket

Thanks, nobber, I will check if there is any available here.. If I can't find it, would Loctite 510 be sufficient, do you know?:) Mick, I think the manual says that some sealant is needed to hold the rocker cover gasket in place (marked with As): I would assume some sealant would be needed to...

Sealant for rocker cover gasket and sunp gasket

Guys, I've got the LR gaskets and wanted to make sure I won't use the wrong sealant. Would Loctite 510 be suitable? http://www.loctite.co.uk/loctite-4087.htm?nodeid=8802626535425 Or what should I go for? Thanks!!

TD5 engine struggling while accelerating after engine wash

After reading lots of forum posts (especially on Disco td5 fuel pump issues) I now knowthat it's pretty common to have the truck running at 25-50% power with the pump gone. The only question forme now isifthis is electrical (fuse/relay) or pump itself. This we will find out next week. Most...

TD5 engine struggling while accelerating after engine wash

Neilly, thanks again! I checked the pump in the morning.. how stupid of me.. I was so happy not to hear the whining, that didn't notice that there was no pump sound at all. Today I double-checked and with the battery fully loaded, there was no sound :( It is 99% likely whay You said: the pump...

TD5 engine struggling while accelerating after engine wash

Dear forum members, I hope it's acceptable that I come here and post a description of my situation and hope to get some direction or advice. I had my car engine washed yesterday from underneath, also the whole truck from underneath. The reason being I had so much oil everywhere that they won't...

Please help identify a body panel - need to replace

Guys, please help! Is the part on the photo which I highlighted in red the same one as on the drawing marked number 7 (AQR710020)? If so, do you know if a PUMA part will fit a 2006 TD5? These are really surprisingly hard to find and come unreasonably expensive (200+ eur? :|) I need to replace...

Need ideas for 90 truck cab headlining

Sofasurfer, I've taken out mine and am generally pleased. But oftentimes I see how much condensation has gathered on the ceiling and it starts to drip down.. it looks much smarter without the headlining, but having to wipe down the ceiling from condensation has made me obstain from heating the...

Ticking (alarm/immo) noise at first start, goes away after restarting

Guys, thanks once again for the suggestions. I replaced the battery in the key and nothing changed. At the risk of sounding really stupid, I have to say, that I don't think the alarm ever worked in my Defender. Maybe the first year of ownership (3 years ago) I heard once the sound of alarm...

Ticking (alarm/immo) noise at first start, goes away after restarting

Kwakerman, thanks for directing me. Now that I did what you said, it does indeed come from the left side of the bonnet, not from the relay box inside. Scooby, now that I think of it, my alarm wouldn't go off with a door open. I sorta thought that was what it was meant to do.. But do you mean I...

Ticking (alarm/immo) noise at first start, goes away after restarting

Experienced Defender owners, have you had this issue with some relay or smth ticking each time you turn the car on. It makes the same ticking noise as the alarm/immobiliser makes when I open the car. The ticking is very annoying and would go on forever until the car is switched off and started...

Make of oil pump sprocket bolt: how significant?

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but as anyone, have been reading it for years. I'm going to open the sump and check/replace the dreaded bolt. The mileage of my TD5 is about 170 000 km. I'm doing quite a few repairs on my truck, ordering lots of parts from Paddock spares. They offer only a Britpart...
