Welcome, if you have any questions regarding your Landy this is certainly the place to ask. I used to work in Uganda, wish I had a Landy when I was there!

TD5 Wont Run up to Temperature After New Rad

Hi all I am going to resurrect this thread as it still seems to be an issue. I have been battling for some time now to get my TD5 to get up to temp and stay there since a new aluminium rad was fitted, a few points: - Long runs up hill, gauge will respond with the engine running up to normal...

Discovery Box in a TD5 Defender, my experience

@Brown Certainly is the road up to Applecross, stunning part of the country, keen to return with something slightly more sporty than the faithful landy. @Gottschalk Thanks for the info, really looking forward to getting it mapped. I think paired with a 1.22 it should make it pretty good.

@lightning thanks I'll give them a buzz and see what they say. They used to cover my fairly extensively modified classic mini with no complaints.

Discovery Box in a TD5 Defender, my experience

I have started being a little softer on the motorways and can achieve a good 27-28 sitting at 65. Beats the 21-22 before (sitting at 70) and the 18! with a frontrunner rack. Not looking forward to rack and 1.6 roof tent... Had a chat with Admiral about getting it mapped. I have already listed...

Discovery Box in a TD5 Defender, my experience

Looking into getting it mapped to 160 by Dynachip, just need to convince the insurance company to not charge me like a wounded rhino for the privilege. I'll keep this posted as to progress. On another note, does anyone have a Howling Moon Roof Tent looking for a new home ? Ta

Discovery Box in a TD5 Defender, my experience

@raywin With any luck the lighter running weight will make a difference in your setup. As said, i do think a light remap would change everything. Just talking to insurance as regards to those pesky 'hidden' costs. @Alan Crossley I must say I am looking to achieve a similar result, however one...

Discovery Box in a TD5 Defender, my experience

Hi All After a good 5000 miles on this box I thought I would give my final opinions. Day to day drivability on roads it's fantastic, it does seem to pull better and I don't seem to be going everywhere in 4th and 5th like I used to. Cruising on the motorway at 70 is significantly quieter...

    Fuel Pressure Regulator

Hi guys, thanks for the advice, I read the thread. @sierrafery Just to confirm if i obtain the correct gasket the new regulator can be fitted in replacement of the old one? Thanks

    Fuel Pressure Regulator

@neilly The part number was LR016319 @Discodevon I'll have a look into this, it should be a 10p engine on a 2000 plate defender.

    Fuel Pressure Regulator

Afternoon All As with many I'm sure I have a sizeable diesel leak from my fuel pressure regulator (coming from the regulator rather then the regulator/engine gasket) I ordered a new genuine regulator based on my reg number, what arrived seemed very different. What is more bizarre is the...

TD5 Wont Run up to Temperature After New Rad

Hi guys. I have been on and off trying to diagnose this issue and still have not managed, the engine does get up to temp on long motorway journeys, but never to a proper temp unless i close the rad muff. But that raises other concerns. As mentioned this occurred after fitting an aluminium...

Certainly was! Mrs is a fine photographer. The low box is the same as before, just the hi box that has changed.

    MOT nightmare

Sorry to hear this, always a bummer when you find out your Landy isn't quite what you believed it was. If the rest of the truck is in good order, I would personally be thinking of going down a re-chassis route. You will be forking out minimum £600 for the work listed, there will be more...

Discovery Box in a TD5 Defender, my experience

Right, sorry for the delay all been a busy couple of weeks. I have put 2500miles through the box, mostly on motorway driving. Verdict is that its a vast improvement when travelling long distances and general tar driving. I used it as a gun bus over the weekend, with 6 people and deep claggy mud...

Discovery Box in a TD5 Defender, my experience

@frog hopper I think you are dead right there, the increased wind resistance will require greater effort to move forward. I have found significant fuel savings on B road and 60mph motorway speeds. But push up to 70 and she starts to drink. For reference 70 with the disco box is exactly 2500...

@rathomas Funnily enough I am looking to sell mine and I'm driving up to Bristol (ish) this evening. If we are quick enough we might be able to make a plan. Back to my experiences after putting 350 odd miles through the new box. The drivability of the Landy is noticeably better (even my mrs...

Discovery Box in a TD5 Defender, my experience

@DaveM-sport Cant comment on larger tyres, but as bone stock Td5 loves it. Might consider a light remap next but don't feel like it needs it. I went of overdrives for the price and the difficulty in finding them (and their spares). But you are right, when towing heavy loads 1st is the...
