Disco 2 The end of the Disco ???

I reckon a simple voltmeter should suffice... I don't believe what happened to his vehicle is one of those things that happen often enough to keep you up at nights or to require you investing in monitoring gizmos or electronics for that matter... if you were to look at things that way, every...

Disco 2 The end of the Disco ???

Nope, perfectly understood. Have had the same one for just under a decade now, time in which many other vehicles have come and gone through the household. Now we keep her parked most days and call on her for the extended road trips - she's the kids' favourite too.

    D2 chassis replacement

My OCD germs have OCD and would probably never have a full night of sleep again if it was me and I had to proceed without those 4 guys in place.... With the multiple complaints of some aspects of these replacement chassis not lining up popping up on a couple of forums, you'd have thought the...

    D2 chassis replacement

Blast the steering slide joint/UJ with plenty of penetrating oil, undo the bolt and remove the UJ/steering shaft. Obviously I've never found myself in your present predicament with it there so can't really guarantee it will work, but I reckon it's worth a shot. All the best and please keep the...

Disco 2 The end of the Disco ???

Dont be too hasty to scrap what sounds like a good vehicle. Bear in mind that there are loads of these vehicles around and parts aren't exactly scarce - if it's new controllers you need, those can be had at breakers and on fleabay without having to take out a second mortgage. My suggestion...

    cylinder head puma 2.2

To say that mechanic is taking you for a ride would be the understatement of the century....allowing him to keep your vehicle any further beyond this point, you'd most likely end up paying more money towards "engine repair" than what the entire vehicle is worth. ......bodging oil leaks with...

Oil bursting out of water header tank

+1 on the oil cooler too. You did mention that you're not a mechanic, but do you do any spannering at all? Because considering you said you have very little good support where you live, how are you going to get it sorted? Not really difficult if you know what you're doing, and having all the...

Td5 Discovery heavy steering at low revs

Just a suggestion, but worth a try - assuming the adjustment stud on the steering box has been turned in too much in an attempt to reduce play in the steering box, it tends to make the whole thing bind a bit. Try unscrewing it out a few turns and see if that makes a difference.

Disco 2 New owner and oil leak straight away

......and @jamesmartin gets it right again. Imagine having you as a neighbor - the Doris would think land rovers are the most reliable vehicles, because she wouldn't see me working on it quite as much with jamesmartin getting it sorted in his shed:D

Google Earth is showing you just one of the numerous glaring repercussions of corruption; nothing getting done. P38A Engine block

Hi Datatek, good to know. I'm originally from Ghana, but working with a German engine manufacturer translates to lots and lots of travel to all the various application sites (power generation, mining, oil&gas) around the World. Its has to be said though, that sadly Ghana is hardly the place...

    P38A Engine block

+1 on the warped deck if you're getting compression gases in the coolant and have ruled out the cylinder head. MLS head gaskets are less forgiving of any imperfections of the mating surfaces of the block and cylinder head faces and would allow said leakage from the combustion spaces into the...

    Disco 1 300tdi manual conversion

@malcolm bell The auto shouldn't be giving you poor performance as you say yours does, to the point where you wish to convert it to a manual. If for nothing at all, you ought to be seeing some gains with the auto, as not having to lay off the throttle to change gears allows the turbo to provide...
