P38A Won't turn over on the key

First bit of reading, in marjon's link, suggests that Maxi Fuse 2 feeds EAS and starter relay..... Good news then! Except that my fuse box has NO fuse in position 2! Search facility says this has been discussed before but other than advice NOT to insert a fuse if there isn't, one the...

P38A Won't turn over on the key

Rain is stopping play here at Cardiff. But not before some progress has been made thanks to LZ.... With relay 16 removed I have established that a shunt from battery to terminal 30 of the relay will operate starter - so the wiring at the starter/solenoid is proven. I would have expected...

P38A Won't turn over on the key

MARJON Symbols on the fuse box lid show RL-15 is a key. RL-16 is SM so not sure what that is. Reading your reply I swapped 7 & 16 but no effect. 16 (&7) are yellow. 15 is green. Thanks for your help.

P38A Won't turn over on the key

Thanks Kermit, Car is diesel Auto. No errant lights or messages. Daignostics? I'm old school on this, just a volt meter and experience! Not sure I could read a diag tool anyway. One thought I had was that the transmission inhibitor is faulty however, there's no...

P38A Won't turn over on the key

Just when you think it is OK to compliment your RR on reliability.......... Shopping run - Morrison's car park - key puts Ign on OK but the start turn just interrupts radio and some dash lights. Engine doesn't turn over. Cheated to get home by 'flashing' a screwdriver from the main feed to...

p38 hit telegraph pole after steering drag link balljoint failed

Your problem is that once it heads off to the disposal firm you are unlikely to see it again. The cost of returning it to you and the expenditure on moving it about the place will rack up costs against you. I would regard that as repairable - But whether it is economical to repair is another...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

RRdt Thanks for your kind words about my truck. It was good to meet up. I'm still in awe of that lift kit of yours!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Another good day on the driveway yesterday. Great outcome for the faulty electric window and the sticky door handle fixed into the bargain. Further to my oil change, earlier this week I can never remember which of the 2 listed oil filters is the right one. So several changes ago, I bought...

P38A Electric window not working. Where to start?

Oakey, handle removal was easy, disconnect the red clip to the lock, remove the Torx bolt on the edge of the door and rotate the handle horizontally thro' 90degs plus. Would have loved a repair kit but had to make the most of the opportunity with the door card off! Everything was dry and...

P38A Electric window not working. Where to start?

Pretty keen on Rob's idea and although I don't have access to nanocom I am reaching the conclusion that since I'm committed to keeping the car for the long term that such a thing ought to be on my shopping list. However, I spent the early morning dismantling the errant switch, inspired by...

P38A Electric window not working. Where to start?

Thanks for the ideas gents. Firstly, I don't think the doorcard has ever been off before. The membrane is factory stuck and intact. Checked the path of the wiring - all OK. Stripped the switchpack back to the board and components then used switch cleaner but no luck. Tomorrow, I'm going to...

P38A Electric window not working. Where to start?

On a bit of a roll today! Oil change this morning, next job in line is a faulty electric window. Passenger side front. All other switches in the console and at the doors are working fine. Switch panel now out of the housing, doorcard removed, everything dry and clean. No obvious broken wires or...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

P38A (How do you get one of those white boxes at the start of your posts?) With the lockdown easing and still revelling in the good results of LZ advice on my EAS I decided to move on with the next round of 'project P38.' Bought a pair of transmission oil cooler pipes and a CV joint...

Other What have you done since not touching your range rover today?

Mark, I'll try with pictures. IT is not my strongpoint but I'll try and get my son to do it - Maintain social distancing...... In the study one at a time. Datatec. You're right. People criticise 70's British cars for rust but Germany had the edge on us I think. The interesting thing about...

Other What have you done since not touching your range rover today?

Back 'on topic' I thought I'd share with you how the lockdown has given me an unprecedented opportunity to tidy up the family fleet. After sorting the P38 suspension out in the first days of the stoppage (with due regard for our Gurus on here) I now park it right outside our front door so...

So sad to hear this. Serves to underline how this virus is so unselective and I fear that so many more of us will loose our best loved people. Keep safe.
