    Wing mirrors not folding in

Mine do it more often than not but they do sometimes fold in. I've checked the switch inside the mirrors and the little metal arm is still in place and I've blown the cobwebs off but still no joy. I would like to fix it if anyone has anything they could add.

    L322 AV Expert required.

Been having a play with my 2003 L322 and decided to use the AV in on my Digital TV box. Its one of those £200 ebay jobs that plugs into the factory analogue TV unit and receives freeview via the factory AV setting. Anyhows, I have an android TV box in my house that runs of 5 volts so I decided...

    It's all gone wrong

I might live in Derby but I'm still a Manc, cakes or not. Update, alternator #2 fitted and working, no spells please, I'd really like this one to work haha. Time to update my signature

    It's all gone wrong

It's weird, I drive from Derby to Manchester once a fortnight and first time the alternator gave up was in Stoke on my way back. 4 weeks later, same run, it got me home without anything breaking but as soon as I came back to it 1/2 hour later and started it up the battery light was on. I get...

Phoned em. £69 +vat per hour. Might try the stealers at that rate. Just another update, alternator gone again. Lasted 400 miles.

Thanks. How much per hour is reasonable?

    Engine knock at startup

Thank you, I'll get on with an oil change with some 10w50.

Error when i go on the motorway

I've just had the air suspension fault after changing the front ball joints on mine. Dash message was air susp inactive, hdc inactive and the abs/dsc dash lights were lit. My problem was the tracking, steering wheel was off centre and the steering angle sensor was picking up that I shouldn't be...

    Engine knock at startup

Thread hijack so apologies up front. Saint, I have the same knock which stops when the oil light goes out, it's not coming from the bottom end so that leaves vanos/tensioner/guides. I'm not 100% sure but I think mine is a non vanos and the tensioner was changed a few days ago. Is the tensioner...

That's the steering done and it drives lovely, it's in my good books again now and faith has been restored haha

    It's all gone wrong

I'm currently sat in a cafe, drinking a coffee while the Range Rover is sat on ramps having the tracking done. Might treat it to a bath when it's done. After a good night's sleep I'm more philosophical about it today, tracking was my main gripe and it started silently this morning, not a knock...

    It's all gone wrong

I was enjoying the car before it went to be 'fixed' so I'm sure I'll get it back to that point again. Thats what the mechanic said so I'll see how it goes. Rocker covers/gaskets were replaced in 2012 as well as the RMS so sounds like its suffered with oil leaks before I'd previously heard...

    It's all gone wrong

Got the car back today (2 weeks later!!!!!) Anyway, here's what it had under warranty. Front lower control arm, timing chain tensioner, PCV valve. Wheel bearing was inspected but no fault found, noted it would soon be due front discs and pads and maybe thats what the groaning noise is. Now...

Help needed! S62 engine in l322 range rover

Surely an L322 is a tarted up X5 which in turn is an E39 on steroids. Currently owning both cars (4.4 L322 and an E39 M5) the similarity between the electrics on the 2 are uncanny, so much so that I bet if a complete M5 was being used as a donor, it could be made to work easier than thought...

    It's all gone wrong

I thought they were only single vanos but I did get told there was a run of non vanos m62's, some of which found their way into a few range rovers. As for an S62 in a range rover? Doable but you'd need a full M5 wiring loom which would probably go in no probs. Now that's a proper range rover lol

    It's all gone wrong

I've got an M5 (S62 V8 engine, twin vanos) as well which has a bit of a vanos rattle occasionally and it's a different sound. The Range Rover sounds more like a knock and not a rumble which is how the M5 sounds plus, I don't think my Range Rover has vanos which would rule that out haha.

    It's all gone wrong

It knocks on startup when it's cold or been left for an hour or so. I read up on the cause and timing chain seemed the most popular so I mentioned it to the mechanic and he's gonna fit a tensioner to see if it cures it
