Lol HC, I've heard a good 10w40 synthetic has helped on other M62 owners cars. Let me know how yours gets on haha.

It's not what I'd call a good one, it's an eBay special but I reckon it's drivers side, 1st 2 pots. Sort of narrows it down to 8 lifters but what if it's not? That's another stripdown then swapping lifters about then trying to remember which hole the originals came out of but you're spot on, it...

    L322 V8 tap tap tap

I think it's all down to the previous oil leak, it run quite low a couple of times, enough to put the low pressure light on when braking or cornering. When it started to tap it had put the light on and I'd run out of 5w30 so I topped up with 15w40 semi synthetic (4 litres) and it was after this...

Ye, they're the ones mate. As you said, depends on quality so maybe I could start a go fund me page for the cost of the tappets and be a Guinea pig lol. Thanks for that and your info and suggestions about the non return valve, I do really appreciate the effort you lads are putting in to help...

    L322 V8 tap tap tap

Ye I'm used lots of effort for little or no result lol. Thanks mate, BMW dealer price for the lifters was £4 each more than Land Rover believe it or not. I also get 10 percent discount at my local dealers now lol, something that took 3 years to achieve at my BMW dealer but only 12 months at...

Might be lifters and none of the valves were changed so also a possibility. Part number for the followers is 11321440256. Could do with a good quality set recommending that aren't £30 each lol

Believe it or not, no, I haven't even tried to bleed since I got it back but that's because I keep forgetting. I'm preparing to order a set of lifters (looking for recommendations here, £30 each at Land Rover) and when I've got them it's going back in to have the cam timing reset and the lifters...

And......... Yes I have carried out the bleed process, long before it went to spend 11 weeks in the garage while it had open heart surgery.

It does sound similar doesn't it and definitely has the same frequency, if anything I'd say mine sounds a bit heavier but ye, similar.

Follower failure, although rare might also be an inherent danger of having a bad oil leak and hard cornering and braking. I know I shouldn't and it's not built for it but I drive it like a sports car at considerable expense and detriment and I'm trying to learn to go easy with it and save the...

    L322 V8 tap tap tap

I'm guessing they're fine as there is no noise accelerating under load. My S62 engined M5 is blowing at the manifold and it sounds like the engine is knocking when it's under load and the Range Rover isn't making anything like the same noise. As Gazbo said, the noise sounds like half engine...

Jeeeezus, hadn't thought of listening to how often it taps. Thanks for that, takes a weight off now cos obviously if it was in the block it would tap twice as often being 2 turns of the crank for every firing cycle. Thanks very much, really happy about that.

I bleedin hope so, as for half revs frequency, it's quiet from 1500 right up to the Rev limiter but Saint knows his stuff and the followers are getting done soon enough, gonna go on holiday in August in it first though lol. If the followers fail to shut it up, it's having a rebuild.

    L322 V8 tap tap tap

More info and 3 more videos for you lads. Got a P0011 code, cam a, bank 1 timing too far advanced........ easy fix and very explainable how it's happened considering the work it's had done. Now the videos (bear with me). 1st,engine at slightly raised idle with the aircon switched on (as I...

Once I get down that road mate I'll never actually know what it was because everything will be getting replaced, that us unless it's really wobbly and the engine builder mentions it. Can anybody recommend an engine builder? Thanks Doo :(

    L322 V8 tap tap tap

I know, I had the same thoughts many times but kept telling myself little end failures are very rare. I think I'll put the followers in for peace of mind then plump for an engine rebuild if they don't shut the bastard up lol. Thanks for the reply.

Sounds feasible Mr Saint and that's gonna be the next job I think :(

Little bit more information, it doesn't seem to tap while it's idling so I think that rules the oil pump/pressure out.
