    Series 3 Leaky roof

Brilliant, thanks Steve. My plan to remove the roof &sides, drill out all the rivets and dismantle the roof panel, rebuild the roof using new button head cap screws and sealant before resealing the gutter channels is a bit overboard then?

    Series 3 Steering Column Bearing?

I replaced this bearing, the new one had as much slop as the old one.

    Series 2 Value of a S2 in a field..

My brother in law looks a bit tough round the edges at times, beardy and a little unkept. He was waiting for his wife outside an M&S department store when he was shoo'd on by the store security as there had been reports of a homeless chap bothering people. My brother in law has a PhD :D Edit...

    Series 3 Leaky roof

That's a good plan. How do you tighten pop rivets, other than replacing them? Wish I had a proper rivet gun.

    Series 3 Leaky roof

On the one day it's rained in the last 2 months I found out how much my roof leaks. Oddly, it's not the rubber seals between the panels but the guttering round the top roof panel. The water fills up the channels on the inside. Looking down the external gutters someone has put some sort of...

    Charging issues help required

Very odd. I'd have gone with a new alternator sorting it. If you can read 13.7v then perhaps the alt isn't putting out sufficient current? I think that needs to be read in series rather than across the alternator. As someone said above, make sure the charge light comes on with ignition, but...

Experimenting with a bikini top - costs and benefits

I think most seatbelts cause some form of injury in a crash, as long as it's less than the dash would have given you, you're winning :)

Experimenting with a bikini top - costs and benefits

175 is slot more paletable (sp?) than 700 odd for the full tilt I must admit. Also looking forward to seeing the bikini kit. It would be great to know you can go fully topless for the summer but generally we don't have the climate for it. 50 quid for a tail gate isn't bad, let me know if you...

Series 3 Sunny day pic and a steering clunk question

Cant disagree with any of that. FYI, jumped in mine to head off to work this morning and the inside front lip of the roof above the windscreen was FULL of water (I park on a slope) which the sloshed all down the inside of the windscreen and behind the dash :( I got out and took the wife's car...

I thought about one too but have decided against, if it's that nice, take the whole roof off, otherwise use a full tilt which gives you pretty good flexibility anyway. Horses for courses, of course. Yeah, I might have another look at going roofless next week, looks like fun!

    Advice on a series 3...

My petrol definitely runs out of ratio before power, I'm looking at a high ratio conversion for the t'box. Cant comment on the diesels I'm afraid.
