Carrying fuel in containers - the legality

Lots of risk management techniques around these days from simple risk registers through to a full bow tie analysis that frankly is less about transparently exposing hazards and properly engaging the workforce as part of the process, than it is about providing assurance to management so they can...

Disco 2 TD5 Stalled in Traffic

Your mechanic knows nothing about TD5 engines. Assuming the engine is original you have a 10p version of the TD5 which makes little use of the MAF sensor. Even if you had a 15p engine which does use the MAF for fuelling data, the engine would use a default setting and carry on running, albeit...

Discovery 2 - Air Suspension Trouble

Welcome, ask your question in the Disco section and you will get some informed answers. Everything you have said seems fixable to me, with the possible exception of this " jeep needs to moving" Calling a Land Rover a Jeep is heresy around here.

Series 3 Installing a camplight in the LR

I apologise for doubting your sincerity, and my respect for your honesty. But please learn some electrical basics before any more wiring. 12V DC systems are relatively safe from an electrocution perspective, but because the Amps flowing in DC circuits can be high, the risk of fire is serious if...

    Torque converter

Replacing a standard TC is not that difficult, but finding a V8 one is becoming difficult. I would start by speaking to Ashcroft who may have a refurb one in stock. https://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/miscellaneous/torque-converters/torque-converter.html However, when I needed a V8 one for...

Disco 2 TD5 Stalled in Traffic

ISTR that only two things will throw up the MIL (CEL) on a manual - crank position sensor and the throttle position sensor. You may have a fuelling issue, but I would guess that one of those two is what caused the problem. Get a diagnostic on it and read the DTCs - my money is on a Crank...

Disco 2 TD5 Turbo Wastegate Control Valve

I know I should have taken a photo before I took it off and replaced it, but there were only 3 vacuum connections, how on earth could I possibly forget which one went where... Can someone confirm that the feed from the turbo inlet pipe, near the MAF goes onto the top, the feed to the...

    D2 rear mud flap brackets

Good quality powder coating is excellent but expensive, and there is no point putting it in on area that is liable to damage. On tree sliders that are likely to take some knocks it is better to have cheap powder coating and an affordable product than to waste money on a coating that will not...

    D2 rear mud flap brackets

Get a rivnut gun. As soon as you have one and realise how incredibly useful they are you will wonder how you survived without one. I used mine last weekend. The M5 domed bolt that holds the LHS of the fuse box to my sons Defender's bulkhead was loose and not holding. Drill out the hole a...

    L322 Bought cheap

And breathe..... Welcome, I'm sure an L322 guru will be on soon. In the meantime, did it come with any sort of guarantee or warranty? If it is not fit for purpose, within a limited time period you could choose to reject the vehicle and return it.

    Lumpy 10p TD5 - D90 (Copied from Defender Forum)

The problem appears to be electrical. Focused on the suddenly rough running engine, until this morning neither my son nor I noticed that the nearside rear lights are now not working. I assumed this was an unrelated common earth issue, and sure enough when providing a known earth to the...

    Lumpy 10p TD5 - D90

That was our first thought too. No oil on Red plug, no oil on the plug under the rocker cover, but we swapped out the injector harness anyway - no change. When it is lumpy the roughness is not always on the same cylinders, but seems to be a different pattern every time it starts.

Thanks, I think when the tank is dropped a full flush of the system would be sensible as well.

We have checked the fuse and the relay still clicks. With the engine running, pulling the relay immediately stops the engine, so the pump must be running well enough to deliver the minimum pressure to permit start and idle.

I'll give that a go, thanks. But is it normal for a fully functioning pump to suddenly become much quieter? It seems a big coincidence that this happened at the same time the engine became unusable.
