    Disco 2 Mounting a tablet

I had a tablet mount fixed there for a while. Beware it's not as a rigid as you might like. I ended up back with a long windscreen mount, there was less flex and vibration

    Repeated Cookies Question

I regularly get the Cookies question when opening the forum - it seems to be about every 3 or 4 days. I always turn off everything except the necessary Cookies & save it before proceeding. Does anyone know why the setting isn't saved permanently ? It didn't used to be so frequent or annoying.

    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

Your gear lever seems well worn where the bias springs rub against it. It was almost 5mm deep on either side of mine, so I filled the grooves with weld & filed it back to smooth. The bias springs now stay in contact far better when in 3rd & 4th & the gearchange feels much better. there's also...

    Turbo upgrade & re-map

Aagh, I think I know the guy you mean - Mike at Dynachip. Yes, he seemed to stop activity a few years ago. He did my first "Stage 1" ECU upgrade - more than 12 years ago !

    Turbo upgrade & re-map

That would probably be Jose from TD5Inside - who I would thoroughly recommend - despite the comments above. Jose's biggest 'issue' is that he is very busy due to his popularity , covering most of Europe.

    Harman Kardon

The noise won't be caused by the speakers. The Harmons are just a slightly higher quality than the Hi Line speakers. The noise is more likely being caused by the Parrot or your phone - as they are the devices doing something when you exit the YouTube App. Are you still using the standard D2 Head...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

I've been refurbing a spare front propshaft after a disastrous failure of the original. Nice new GKN UJs & a lovely smooth operation - unlike what's left of the old one ! I was competing at an off-road RTV trial when I appeared to lose drive to the front wheels. I thought I'd maybe broken the...

    Disco 2 Centre Exhaust Silencer

The silencer I added didn't have any specification - other than matching the exhaust pipe internal diameter. It was just part of their range for building custom exhausts. The length was chosen to easily fit into the space available under the car - but be long enough to have some effect on noise.

    Disco 2 Centre Exhaust Silencer

I fitted a "middle box delete" exhaust section in my TD5 a few years ago to get rid of the very heavy centre silencer. As you have found the noise inside the car was unacceptable on long journeys. After 1 week I decided it must be changed. I had a straight through stainless steel silencer...

    Disco 2 Tailgate speakers

Beware aftermarket speakers are often not as sensitive as the LR OE originals - even if they have matching impedance - so aftermarket sound quieter than the rest of the OE system. Those suggested by Sierrafery don't look bad at 91dB/W / might work OK. I think I remember seeing some info on...

    ACE System removal effect

Meego, with ACE anti-roll bars & actuators still in place, your car's "Anti-Roll" characteristic while cornering will be the same as ACE - until high cornering forces when ACE would begin to soften. It's absolutely nothing like a car with ACE fully removed or replaced by Non ACE ARBs.

    Engine Mount - Discovery 2

The "g' indicates a Genuine Land Rover part in a land rover box - NOt an aftermarket part. It's usual to replace both as they will both be worn out. The only parts worth fitting are Genuine as many, many people have had negative experience with aftermarket suppliers of these engine mounts. Your...

    Bleeding brakes

Mastercylinder pressure seals are probably worn / being by-passed when you apply pedal slowly & seal OK when you jump on the pedal quick. Like the old bicycle pumps that had leather seals and would only work well when operated quickly. PS You'd need a lot of air in the system (ie a complete...

Jacking the car to bleed brakes

Do you even need to lift the car ? On my L322 RR I just raised the suspension to Off-Road height & could get to each bleedscrew with the wheels left in place while lying on the floor. (NB using an axle stand as a safety "stop" each time I went underneath at each corner - just in case of air...

Disco 2 2004 Discovery II - Drip rail/rain gutter finisher removal question.

The side pieces are only there as a styling feature & to hide the variable quality finish of painting / welding. They might have a minor impact on how rain drips off the edge of the gutter.

All, apologies, my post was the 1st response & the one with loads of dead lines in it. Something seemed to go wrong with the forum on my Android phone & it just threw me out & wouldn't allow me to edit it on the phone. I've only just managed to edit the post on my laptop. Very weird ! Ref the...
