The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

There you go, mines a facelift not sure if the earlier models have it though

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

Nice fabrication work On the passenger side of the bulkhead, there is an unused grommet which you can use to pass wires through. You will have to peel the soundproof material to get to it though if you still have it fitted. Will try to find a pic for you

    200tdi temp gauge woes

You could have a broken guage, it was a long time ago when I did my conversion buti remember it being a nightmare trying to work out what sensor I would need. Originally mine was a petrol V8, which had a 6.5 diesel V8 in when I bought it so figured it would be better to get a new guage with a...

    What welder

Agree with the above post, up to 150 amps is normally fine on a standard 13a plug. If you can afford it try to get an inverter type welder which won't draw as much power.

    200tdi temp gauge woes

Do you know what vehicle your 200tdi came out of? I think the sensors are different for different models. When I did a discovery 300tdi conversion into my 1988 90 I bought a new Stack guage and sensor, didn't trust the old guage I had. I ran it without a viscous fan, just used an electric one

    Painting New callipers

I didn't prep mine, just painted them straight out the box with high temp caliper paint from halfrauds. Lasted the 10 years I had the vehicle for. Recently did my d2 calipers with the same stuff. I used the brush on paint (not the spray)

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Here it is, rack is bolted down. Havent properly wired up the lights yet, want the switch to be in the back so i will make a switch/extra socket panel where the plastic removable vent is near the back door. Just need to work out the best way to get the wires into the vehicle, was thinking where...

    New Disco Owner here

    Hi, welcome to the forum

Wipers turn on with the high beams!

I had similar problem with my td5, it was a loose earth behind passenger side headlight. Not sure if the V8 model has the same earth point though

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

You should be ok driving in diff lock (I've not done it in a D2 but I did in my old 90). 9/16 spanner for the bolts on the prop. Don't forget to do the centre bearing inside the yoke

    300tdi wont start

Leave ignition off and connect a live feed from the battery to stop solenoid, you should hear a 'click' sound, if you don't then the solenoid is more than likely broken. This will stop you getting fuel to the injector unions.

    300tdi wont start

Can you here a clicking sound when you put power to the stop solenoid? Could be stuck. Undo an injector pipe union then crank the engine to see if you get diesel coming out of it

    My RRC Project

Do yourself a favour, scrap it. Haha, only joking. Looks like a good project you have taken on, will be following your build. Just a thought with lifting the body, I just used 2 bottle Jack's and 2 small acroprops. Lifted it high enough to then slide some 100x100 box section under which rested...

Fitting Stereo into 1980 Land Rover Series 3

I rewired all the electrics in my 90 and put a junction box type thing where I took all the switched lives from (doesn't help in your situation though). Like kevstar says, just find a switched live wire (don't know much about series vehicles, but find one behind the ignition barrel and connect...

    Bottom swivel pin brackets

Does it look like this? If so it's a damper. Not sure what it's for so can't tell you if it's ok to remove. My 90 didn't have one fitted

Fitting Stereo into 1980 Land Rover Series 3

Hi, welcome to the forum. Best posting this in the series section of the site (someone with more knowledge will be able to answer you). But as you're here, I fitted one to my 90 which didn't have a radio or any wiring. I bought a radio (nothing special) and a wiring adaptor with loose ends...

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Evening all, just a quick update, ordered 5 new tyres from blackcircles yesterday so hopefully they should be arriving soon (estimated tomorrow). Went for 265x60r18 toyo open country at+. Will be refurbing the wheels as they are a bit crusty in places so they will be coming off this weekend...
