Loosing any pixels of my wonderful "infotainment screen" would be catastrophic! Hope they make Android Automotive that runs on that clock screen. :D

We are used to this kind of driving conditions here, it's like this for 4-5 months a year. And you change gears too and turn heat on also with your right hand while driving and won't crash?

What have you done to your Freelander today

Finished our Christmas Tour, 1200 km trip to eastern Finland. Typical Finnish winter weather, got some freezing cold. snowing and slush. Today we drove back home 450 km and first 250 km it was snowing heavily but that changed to a pouring rain in southern Finland. We had our both dogs with us...

Little over 500 km today in snowy winter conditions (-7 C). Have to say this 18 years old car drives like a dream in icy and snowy roads. Average diesel consumption was 9l/100km and speeds 80-110 km/h.

Dug it out the snow twice. Over 30 cm of snow in one day is a bit too much!

Freelander 1 wheel size, snow chains and tyres

For deep soft snow Hakkapeliitta 10 and of course because I'm Finnish, Nokian. You could also deflate tyres when going from tarmac to softer and snowy dirt roads.

Freelander 1 wheel size, snow chains and tyres

If you can afford a true Nordic studded winter tyres like Continental IceContact 3 or Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10, I'd say you'll prepared for everything. In really deep snow grip will not help when you bottom out. Keep shovels, extra winter wear like down jackets, gloves and stuff in the car.

12V battery that came with my FL1 started to show age in cold starts, so got a new battery. Exide 95 Ah 760 CCA fit nicely there.

    Freelander brakes

If you got the right brake cylinder, pistons can't spread too far. I actually managed to order wrong drums from autodoc. Check the lever where the cable is attached inside the drums. It's prone to seize, mine was absolutely solid when I bought the car.

    Freelander brakes

My recent story with FL1 drum brakes could be useful to read also. At least now I can strip and assemble them in no time, done it several times when finding the cause.. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/handbrake-cable-differences-fl1-ended-up-to-be-adjuster.377734/

    Pollen filter from hell

It's just enough that it clears the oil dripping down. Was like that when I got the car but really handy.

    Pollen filter from hell

Sounds like progress! Sounds typical LR fight, with rounded bolts and stuff. When you have done all the typical maintenance tasks once, it gets easy. I have a cut out under the sump in my undertray for easy engine oil change.
