    Fuel Pump Issue

IIRC correctly it is possible to install a series lift pump incorrectly by putting the lever arm the wrong side of the camshaft

    No low end power

Lube your waste gate arm. There are videos on youtube showing you how to do it. Basically, remove the heat shield from the turbo, unclip the actuator arm. Then lube the wastegate arm working it back and too until it is rally free/loose. I did this on my TD5 and my MPG went from 30 to 35 and...

    3.5l v8 in a Series III - running hot

Agreed, check the ACTUAL temperature of the engine first NOT what the temp gauge is telling you. My first thought is, has it got the correct temp sender to match the temp gauge? Is the voltage stabilizer (for the gauge) working? You could buy a IR temp gauge like this: Non contact Digital...

    Series 2a (!) on ebay

How this has retained its MOT and Tax exempt status I'll never know, different chassis, different suspension, different transmission, different engine, they've even modified the front panel, possibly the only thing on the vehicle from 1969. Land rover Series 2a Diesel 1969 | eBay I pity the...

    Disco 2 Engine condition td5

You could do the head on yours and see how it goes. If nothing else is broken - don't fix it. Save up some money for a replacement/recon engine at a later date. There will be loads of rotten D2s with low mileage engines for sale I would think.

Are military 110's lifted as standard?

IIRC they all have 'heavy duty' suspension, not a lift as such just not as saggy as an overloaded civvy model.

    2.25 vs 2.6

Buy it. Drive it around, if you don't like it, put it up for sale again. The way second hand series prices are at the moment, you might get more than you paid for it

Series 3 Ignition switch on barrel with lock and choke cable

If you don't have any luck cleaning it, I have an old one kicking around my shed somewhere, you can have it for the price of the postage. I don't know if if works but you might be able to make one good one from both.

    Series 3 Carb problems

It could be a ropey plug lead on No2 cylinder. Clean the plugs, swap No2 lead with another one and go for a spin. Pull the plugs and see which if any are black. Might be a duff plug. Also check tappet clearances, check inlet manifold & carb base for air leaks and check the exhaust manifold...

    BMW ENGINE SUITABILITY FOR P38

This part of the forum is for the Land Rover 19J diesel turbo engine as fitted to the early 90 and 110s. You'd get a better chance of an answer by posting this in the Range Rover section. Your engine is a BMW unit ( though I can't remember what code or what vehicles it was used in) so you...

    Td5 ecu interchangeable?

IIRC a 10p engine must have a 10p ECU. The Defender and Discovery ECUs are slightly different as a Defender is 122bhp and a Disco 136. To be safe, swap like for like. Feeling daring and an extra 14 HP go for a disco ECU... I'm sure someone who has done this will be along to give some advice...

    Lift Pump Priming

The pump operates of the cam shaft and it has to be in the correct point on the shaft for the hand primer to work. If you get no resistance on the hand lever turn the engine slightly until you do.

IIRC you can replace like for like without incurring a penalty, but you CANNOT use a second hand chassis, it must be brand new. I copied this from the DVLA website: Your vehicle must have 8 or more points from the table below if you want to keep the original registration number. 5 of these...
