    LT230 1:2 ration transfer box.

What wheel/tyre combo are you running? This has quite an impact upon overall 'gearing'.

    New Bloke in Dorset

Welcome from a fellow Dorset based Landy owner! I know that location well and have a few picks of my own truck right there. Let me know if you need any advice or support, it can be a steep learning curve when things go wrong, but well worth persevering. Good luck!

    300 Tdi Rebuild

Ah, that makes sense! After following this excellent, but unfortunately long thread over the years, you really need some good luck with your Landy. May 2020 bring more enjoying and (a bit) less spannering!

    300 Tdi Rebuild

You're not really going to use garden hose surely? If it's just for a quick experiment, ok, but I'm pretty sure it isn't oil resistant and there's a fair potential for significant oil loss in short time if it lets go!

    1993 Defender 90 Rebuild

Looks like a great project! I would highly recommend cutting off the RH dumb iron complete with chassis number before you dispose of the old chassis.

19J smoking like a basset hound

Yes of course, ask anything you like. If you send me a PM I will pass on my number if you want to talk it through. Do check out glencoyne engineering though as he has a very good description of what's involved. This site also has some good write ups. Mine is a 1989 90 and I fitted a Disco 200tdi.

19J smoking like a basset hound

I'm glad you identified the potential risk to motorcyclists having oil spraying out of the underside! I've had a few offs due to oil and diesel over the years and it ain't pleasant. I would suggest piping the breather into a catch tank (2 l plastic milk bottle), changing the oil for 20W50 and...

Series 3 Project - Starting at last

Nope, DVLA have stopped doing the details of previous recorded keepers due to, as you suggest, GDPR. It's a shame because this has been really useful to me in the past. I sucessfully used it to find the military registration of one of my vehicles, and hence its military history. By the way...

landy 2.5 na ex mod, bought and broke down yesterday!

Welcome! Firstly, don't despair. Once you ironed out this issue, no doubt there will be plenty more to resolve- it's a Landrover!! ;-) Sounds like you have a fuelling issue. I would suggest that firstly you rotate the engine half a turn to see if that gets your lifter pump operating- it may be...

    Should I buy?

All fixable but I would go over that with a fine tooth comb, as there is likely to be more hiding.....

None Land Rover engines to fit lt77?

It's not hard to get them running out of the car to give you a basic idea of health before purchase, but this probably only applies to buying from friends as I can't imagine a breaker allowing you to do this.....HEALTH & SAFETY ALERT- Don't try this at home!!

If you buy an OEM part do you expect to get a genuine part in a none genuine box?

I use Turners parts for these engines......I believe that they sell the parts they actually fit. https://www.turnerengineering.co.uk/rtc-5774-gasket-set-top-25td-c2x20634530

    Wanted Tub capping section

Anyone changed their tub cappings recently? Looking for a 6" section of a tub capping to repair my old ones. Can be 90 or 110. I know you can buy repair sections but I am concerned that the profile isn't quite correct. Thanks in advance!

    Hello from sunny Bournemouth

Welcome from a not so sunny Wimborne! The series project sounds like fun. Any thoughts what motor you are going to fit? I wanted V8 but got 200TDI.....could be worse!

    1993 Defender 90 Rebuild

SNAP! Looks like you've got all the problems mine has (apart from the hole in the bell housing which I would simply fit a plate over rather than replace). I've just spend a ridiculous amount of time rebuilding the doors on mine and if yours need more than just the bottom channel, I would highly...

    19j tick tick bang!

I know you've probably heard this before, but, I would really consider fitting a 200 TDI. I'm not going to make negative comments about the 19J, as I really liked mine, but I changed it to fit a V8 but ended up 200 TDI to run with a 1.2 transfer box. It's better on fuel and more powerful. The...

    SP 4x4.

Isn't the Landrover parts supply business strange?....we all complain about Britpart but keep buying from them. Sp4x4 offer shoddy service and suspect quality, but seem to be doing just fine! Perhaps people are generally only buying things like doors and panels once and have no need to...

    SP 4x4.

Shameful response from sp4x4 again then. At least you got one- they just ignored my comments on quality. Suggest you send it all back requesting a full refund. I refuse to accept crap quality parts now, and a lot of stuff sent to me goes back, especially when companies claim to be providing...
