Young Drivers and Landies - Which One?

Thanks buddy - interesting tale... just been on Comparethemarket and no quotes available even adding my 19 year old on a Defender so not as easy as I think anyway... I passed my test without belts - I'm 52 years young. Trouble is with kids these days they have such high aspirations... my...

Young Drivers and Landies - Which One?

You make a good point Julian. Non TDi slower. TDi quite quick off the mark I'm guessing and easier to roll. My daughter has no concept of speed, she'd be the one to roll it... 17 year old boys, yep - I was one once so know what you're saying... I got myself into Opel Mantas pretty quickly...

Young Drivers and Landies - Which One?

Thanks Julian - yeah kind of agree, my first car was Viva Estate - 1972 to be precise - loved it... Sorry to hear about the Accident, bloody hell - I owned a Minor once! I'm leaning towards TDi with PAS now that I've read a few comments. Any views on TDi v Normally aspirated?

Young Drivers and Landies - Which One?

Yeah that was my thought, my Sons a brute he'd be fine but Daughter would struggle though she did drive the SIII offroad a couple of times... tricky for parking though so PAS was what I was thinking..

Young Drivers and Landies - Which One?

Hey that's good news - points too any 90 then from an adding to Insurance point of view. Now what about the Vehicle preference?

Young Drivers and Landies - Which One?

Wanted a few opinions. Both my kids are learning to drive - 17 and 19 and I'm trying to talk them into starting their motoring career with a Landie as we had an SIII Lightweight for 15 years (pic attached) plus a few other Series Landies. I'm just surfing eBay and looking at options and am...

Removing 15 layers of Nato Paint?

Tis an idea- I'm thinking maybe it might be easier just to sand/grind it flat then apply another coat... just tried a blowtorch on the front wing but again only goes through a couple of layers and very slow. Thanks by the way, I like it, had it for 16 odd years, just MOT'd it again and...

Removing 15 layers of Nato Paint?

Brake fluid eh, will that get it down to the metal? I've tried the latest nitromors, the white stuff, but like you say it's rubbish and just sits there for hours. Remember the old stuff used to make it peel straight away - probably in the 80's! Will take a look at eBay thanks.

Leaking Front Hub - What is wrong

Series 3 - 1979. How many seals are there and how much do they cost? Happy to change but never done this job before.

Removing 15 layers of Nato Paint?

So - after many a happy year painting my Landy with Nato Green and Black with various hand brushes, I've done it at least 3 times and the Army probably half a dozen before that. Thinking of a Fresh Bronze green job for a change as it's been camo all its' life. Any ideas on the fastest way...

Leaking Front Hub - What is wrong

So before I break out the spanners - my Lightweight front offside boot is oily and weeping. What is it likely to be? What parts will I need? Is the job straightforward? Couple of pics to assist.. Thanks in advance

Which Tyres for my Series III Lightweight

I've got a dilema - my Seriess III has got two sets of wheels - one the 1. original swb rims with Army tyres - useless on road but look great and 2. lwb rims with 7.50 MT tyres - great but very heavy to turn and I want a new set that fit the following criteria: 1. Mostly road biased 2...
