    Bulkhead - here goes!

Today - had a great day, with tidying up some things... and deciding 'screw it' I'm going to put the roll cage on. I have been measuring and re-measuring everything, but there is not really a fixed point to work off, considering the cups on the outrigger at the front are not totally snug inside...

    Bulkhead - here goes!

Didn't get a chance to update on the final push. It's been a manic last week with putting the dash back on and making the MOD I planned to it. I have long ditched the air con from it, and the car has no heater, so the ducking was useless. The front broke away long ago, so I have put in a little...

    Roll cage rear chassis mounts

Yeah I know where they go and what they bolt to and from, just not which way round they face.

    Roll cage rear chassis mounts

Not for comp, not for anything other than mounting the roof top tent. As the fittings can be fitted either way round, the holes through the body can be about 2cm difference. Then there is another piece that goes from the floor to the body side, and then the roll cage. That second piece has some...

    Wipers

Does it only happen when the screen is good and wet? Mine had alot of slack in the system and if the blades where lubricated with good rain fall, they would move another 2-3cm when the cog reached it's end. Try moving the arm (gently) when it's at rest. If there is alot of movement, it could be...

    Roll cage rear chassis mounts

Has anyone seen these kinds of mounts before? Should they be mounted so that the strut sits 'on-top' of the cross member, or mounted so that they are sitting in front of it? There is enough wiggle room to convince me either way.

Which radiator - NOW which coolant

Yeah - I've not found any consensus on this. Even from this site, some say it's fine. The only thing that seems to fit the info is Alu radiators. So I'm guessing it's ok with the replacement, but youre right I want to know for sure.

Which radiator - NOW which coolant

Ok I've sorted that questions. So I'm getting a replacement one that will be Alu, so that means it's ok to use the red OAT coolant? My radiator failed, while the car was parked, I'm convinced it was not leaking like this before, its a big leak now from the radiator. Does that mean the OAT...

Which radiator - NOW which coolant

So close to finishing the huge list of jobs and get the car back on the road, and noticed some water dripping. On inspection, the radiator is leaking. The car is a 1985 One Ten, but with a 300tdi from a 94 disco. Do I get the BTP2275, which is upto TA or do I get the PCC500170 which is from...

    Bulkhead - here goes!

Other foot well is now done. Welded up, sealed and painted. And the bulkhead priming has started. It's raining now, so I can't put anything else on it, But hopefully will be able to key it and put some colour to it very soon. Can't tell you all how good it is to be on the final stretch...

Door Locking options on a 1984 LR 110

Without seeing the door, I'm not happy to guess, but if it's a lifting handle on both sides (like mine) then it would be .... er... anyone of these. They all look right (i did that lock too not long ago), I'm guessing the different part numbers seem to be a different shapped key...

    Bulkhead - here goes!

A very very slow day. The wind has been up so I can't weld. So i decided to cut out the driver's footwell rot after all. Glad I did, means I won't have to revisit this job (fingers crossed!!!!) Bit more welding and it will be in good. The top of the bulkhead is done, ALMOST. I need to weld...

Door Locking options on a 1984 LR 110

I just did this on the same type doors that your talking about. Lift handle on the outside and pull flap thing on the inside? If yes then read on... You need a different barrel type to other doors / ignition. MUC4146 is the part number. on the back of the mechanisum there is a small bolt...

    Bulkhead - here goes!

Also managed to smash out another door frame repair... So thats basically everything replaced that was rusty. Need to finish the top of the bulkhead with some more welding, and then some filler to smooth it all out. Paint and prime. There is the driver footwell to do, but I'm going to leave...

    Bulkhead - here goes!

Having to pick the moments to finish this job around 'life' - but new gas bottle for the welder and made a big step today... Getting the settings right on the welder has made all the difference. Melting into both surfaces, no blowing through, and mixing well.

    Spare wheel carrier

I have the britpart one (DA2232) and it's held up really well over the 6 years. the slidder to the door has been no issues at all. I needed to spray some lube into it everyone now and then. But been very solid.

Yokohama Geolander G015 v Goodyear Wrangler Adventures

I had the Geolander on my defender in Oman and then for the long drive home. They did well, replaced them when I got to the UK as they started to age, but that was 3 years and 45,000 KM later. Did ok in Oman, we got stuck in the Mongolian mud, but I think anything would have.

    Bulkhead - here goes!

Not the colour that I would have chosen. Got the car in Oman and there is very limited 2nd choice, but have fallen for it.
