Yeah, that is far too tight, it's a wonder it hadn't damaged the wheels let alone the nuts.

They must have been circa 400nm, I can undo 120nm with one of them telescopic wheelbraces without too much straining.

I think I would replace all the nuts, to be overtightened to that extent can't have done em much good.

I remember "back inthe day" we never used torque wrenches on wheel nuts, just an extra "nip" on each nut, in all my years of driving and working on motors, I have Never had a wheel nut work loose but, I torque em now so, they are not overtightened.

I'm the opposite, which is why I usually torque smaller bolts, to prevent shearing them, all too easy to shear a 10mm bolt with a 1/2 drive ratchet, I don't torque drain plugs though, just a nip, so I can undo it next time.;)

P38A Radiator drain plug o-ring troubles

Hand tight is enough for a rad drain plug, I've never used anything except a stubby screwdriver, on a slotted one.

L322 Is the battery to blame and which one should I get?

I've thought of an easy way to check this, fold a piece of cardboard, an empty cereal box would do, so it stands an extra 50mm on top of the existing battery and, close the bonnet, if it doesn't crush it, then the MF31 1000 should fit.

That would be the least damaging, cheapest option.

I thought it looked like the front edge of the groove was flattened off a bit, like it had been clouted with something, look to the left of the centre of the pulley above it, maybe it's an illusion.

I've just had another look at your photo, the AC compressor (I think that's what it is) pulley, looks damaged on the front edge.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

That's modern motors for yer, P38 was easy mainly because they put the tensioner in a sensible place but, the design went back to the 90s before, the acccountants didn't consider or care who has to service/repair them, all they think of is £££, got similar on my Focus, hoping to change the...

That don't look good, could be a rough pulley wearing the edge of the belt hopefully, it's just a duff belt, can happen sometimes, good luck.

If the starter motor wasn't turning, would stilll be drawing current and, could be getting hot, boiling diesel, one spark and, ignition, think he was lucky it didn't catch.

There was me thinking, why put all those dirty engine parts on a pristine back seat and, not in the boot? but, end of the day not that important.

Range Rover 2010 MK III 3.6 D 4x4 rear subframe

My thoughts exactly, can't beat the good old P38 full chassis, it seems the newer the vehicle, the shorter it's design life.
