Freelander 1 Considering downsizing from my D2 Td5....

Many thanks for that!! I'd not heard of MuddyMods before, but looks like they have some good bits there!! I'm already spending one looking at the site!!! lmao! To be fair, I'd probably look at the 50mm lift, sill guards/rock slider, rear exhaust guard and a snorkel. That said, they doo look good...

Freelander 1 Considering downsizing from my D2 Td5....

Hi all, Looking for a little info/help/advice. I currently have a D2 Td5 and a VW Passat B6 estate. The other half and I have decided it's not cost effective having three cars between us, and sadly, my D2 is costing my £55-60 a week in diesel to commute to work (about 20-21 miles each way), so...

    Freelander 1 2004 Freelander TD4 SE - Winch & ATs

Hi mate, have you had much interest? I'm interested, but just needing to sell my D2 and Passat estate before I can make a cash purchase. If possible, could you let me know if you do sell it before I can sell my vehicles? Ian

Wanted....decent disco for my Sherco trials bike

Are you still looking for a Disco? I'm about to list my D2 Td5, has winch and winch bumper, steering gurad, raised air intake (snorkel), terrafirma dif guards, terrafirma fuel tank guard and terrefirma transmission guard. Has a cb, and I have a heavy duty rear bumper waiting to go on too (I'll...

    Disco 2 Advice

If you're giving it a lift, do it properly!! In other words, ensure you extend brake lines, breather pipes etc.

    suspension lift

Mine's the same, converted to springs on the rear before I bought it. Planning on doing a 2" lift at some point. My thinking is that I'll just replace all four when I do my lift, if nothing else, they're all new and none worn and potentially likely to fail before the others, due to wear. You...

    Discovery 2 wheel/tyre size advise

Hi Darren, Welcome to Landyzone. I've had a look into this for you, and going by the ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Technical Org. - Tyre industry bible), the preferred rim width is 7j, however, the maximum acceptable rim width is in fact 8J, so you will be alright fitting your 235/70R16's. For...

    Disco 3 (LR3) Advice from D3 owners

Thats the one!!! Damned good tyre!!! I'm going to check what our 'staff' prices are on them. Can't see me having to pay more than £70 a tyre. Currently, for a 245/70R16 for the D2, I'm paying about £55. That said, for retail prices, Camskill are generally pretty good. HAd dealings with them...

    Disco 3 (LR3) Advice from D3 owners

Oh bugger!!! I must admit, I've not checked the tyre size yet. If I can't get Hankook, I'll look at Genreral Gabber A/T or BF Goodrich. Although I must admit, I'd probably prefer 17" or 18" rims on a D3

    Disco 3 (LR3) Advice from D3 owners

I work for Hankook as an engineer, I'll be fitting the Dynapro A/T next, whether it be on the D2 or a D3. The M/T's are amazing, but the A/T are supposed to be awesome too. Plus, I'll get a good discount on already competitively priced tyres. :D

    Disco 3 (LR3) Advice from D3 owners

Cheers bud. Going on that fuel consumption is probably very similar or slightly better than my D2. The mud terrain tyres and other mod's adding weight to it don't help economy. Thinking, if I do go for it, I'd want to fit all terrain tyres and a cb, but not worried about any of the other mods...

    Disco 3 (LR3) Advice from D3 owners

Top one, cheers Lynall. I remember it being mentioned on another thread before, but didn't have time to go looking for it, so many thanks, for the link. Depending on what we get for all three cars, it may be an earlier D3 we go for. I will read up on the D3 forum though, cheers.

    Disco 3 (LR3) Advice from D3 owners

Morning all, So, the other half and I have been talking........ I have a repeat showing from the three amigos on my D2 which has prompted her to suggest I replace the D2 and my Passat B6 estate and get something a bit newer and more reliable. Shes also suggested she sells her car and we reduce...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Buying tips....what to look out for

Hi all, I'm asking on behalf of my Dad, he's chopping in his Nissan Xtrail in favour of the green oval and opting to go for a Freelander 2. He's viewing and test driving one on Wednesday or Thursday. What are the possible known bad bits to look for? The one he's looking at is a 2013 model...

    Skinny tyres on these alloys?

Going on ETRTO, 215 is as narrow as you'd want to go. To go to a 205 section width, maximum rim width is 7.5J. Yep. I went from 235/70R16 to 245/70R16, we're both at the limit for the 8x16 rims

    Skinny tyres on these alloys?

Just had a look ( I work for a tyre manufacturer), and a 205 tyre width is too narrow and not recommend on a 8x16 rim according to the ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Tech. Organisation). Also worth considering the load index if you're reducing the size of your tyres. You should never reduce the...
