    Replacement bulbs.

Philips Racing Vision: they’re excellent and remarkably better than standard. H7, btw.

To buy or not to buy??

I have a three-door and I much prefer the look, not to mention the flexibility in the summer with the removable hard top.

Freelander 1 Fun in a Freelander

The manual for the FL1 suggests you get a warning on the dash in the form of a flashing HDC symbol with an exclamation mark if the brakes are at risk of overheating, so maybe he had a warning but was too engaged in steering his descent to notice?!

    Freelander 1 lazy thermostat ?

I am a novice to car mechanics and I managed the in-line stat mod with relative ease, took me a weekend because I decided to clean the inlet manifold at the same time, but if I was just doing the modification I think it would have taken me about 2hrs (much of that time was taking off and putting...

Freelander 1 Fun in a Freelander

This was where I began to appreciate how good the HDC is. As I said in a different thread, it takes a bit of nerve to take your foot away from the brake and trust the car to do the work for you. I spent most of this descent trying to straddle the ruts (which I did), as I was grounding out...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I’d like to see how you’ve done that. The lack of illumination is a bit annoying.

Freelander 1 Fun in a Freelander

This Christmas was the first time I was able to get out in my Freelander and actually make use of its features. Armed with OS maps, Northumberland County Council online mapping and a bit of common sense I went out and about around Hadrians Wall and Slaley Foret. Whilst I didn’t push the car’s...

    Power steering fluid TD4

Excellent - thank you. So would Comma AQ3 ATF be correct? It’s Dexron III/IIE/IID//II compatible, but I t is semi-synthetic and the Carlube you mentioned is fully synthetic.

    Power steering fluid TD4

In the last quote, would the gradual method be okay if I want to change from the current (possibly) FL2 fluid to the correct one, or would you recommend a full drain?

    Power steering fluid TD4

Not the news I wanted half way through a 200-mile drive home! Looks like that’s tomorrow planned for me then. I recall a thread with a how-to flush the system on here. Is there a particular brand you recommend?

    Power steering fluid TD4

HOLY THREAD REVIVAL BATMAN! However, rather than starting a new one.... I want to top-up my PAS fluid in my ‘04 facelift TD4 Sport however the stuff I have in mine right now is blue or green (probably green), all the Dexron II/III stuff I’ve found is red and I’m pretty sure you don’t mix...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I decided to test the HDC in anger today in the hills of Northumberland. It took a bit of guts to let go of the footbrake and allow the car to do its thing. It was much better than I thought it’d be, and way better than I could have managed. However it was (what I’d say) noisy each time the HDC...

Freelander 1 Injector, fuel pump advice please

Thanks for your reply, I've not done that test - currently looking for an idiot-proof method. I think it's injector #1 that is overfilling (or at least the left-hand one as you look at the engine) because there is a build-up of diesel around that one, I cleaned all around there when I did the...

Freelander 1 Injector, fuel pump advice please

Yeah, he was clearly either not keen to do the job or just felt he could charge a premium because he's a Land Rover 'specialist'. He's the second guy I've been to locally and have left unimpressed. The only reason I went this time was for the diagnostics, but yeah - I'm going to get the parts...

Freelander 1 Injector, fuel pump advice please

Apologies, I think I meant the wiring loom. I'm still learning! I do suspect the cleaner has dislodged stuff, I'm continuing to run premium diesel and cleaner through until I get to a workshop and get them out.

Freelander 1 Injector, fuel pump advice please

Hello all, Recently I took my car in for diagnostics because after some reading around I was certain I had injector issues. Turns out I was right and that one injector is over-fuelling and another under-fuelling. I am assuming these will need replacing, or at least refurbishing. However, should...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Finally had the guts to fit the in-line stat mod. Also took the time to clean-ish the inlet manifold and replace the gaskets. So far, so good. I didn’t realise how much I was relying on my heated seats. Now there is proper heat blasting out the vents.
