Yep - I tend to use those strong veg boxes from supermarkets to move things and if you get the deep ones, its possible to fill them such that you can't lift them.

Got a parcel on way but seems a bit slow. Had a look at the tracking on Royal Mail website and it says 'we're expecting the parcel from the sender'. That was on the 15th...

Been tied up moving some books over the weekend. Its amazing how many boxes are needed to clear one set of bookshelves, bit like when digging a hole - how the hell did all that earth fit in there?

Seriously I think the pleud (love that) deliberately ask stupid questions to see if they get a stupid answer - i.e. UK plates but the occupants can't speak English etc. Quite often after a few probing, stupid, questions, if the answers are fully plausible they decide its not worth looking at...

Nice. We can 'only' store 12000 L. Yes you can buy a lot of water for that. We had/have (long story) a borehole 110m deep and ones along those lines cost about 10 grand, although we didn't pay to do it, it came with the house because there is no water. Your neighbour should probably bear in...

We've got an awkward insurance policy too which means we can't just gocompare or direct line etc. Because it's a Victorian building divided into three and it's a shared freehold, which is great in some ways, we have to use a commercial insurance company and it went up this year. Because we...

They must have made so many of those Renault 4 vans, still see them today and often with something sticking out of that handy little roof flap! One of those quirky French design ideas which was really practical. Sorted battery problem but the failure so soon does seem odd. Spookily the last...

Had a bit of battery trouble (not land rover). Occasional sluggish starting but charged up an kept an eye on it. Suddenly refused to start, turned over too slowly. Charged up again over night and all day before a long journey and after all that only just started, so battery must be failing...

Sorry, read this then got distracted - Renault 4s were more or less 'go anywhere' as well, high ground clearance and suspension travel. Doesn't surprise me that similar repairs may gave been needed at times. Re. the tiles, painting with sealing compounds is probably not recommended because...

I suppose the front underside scrapes the ramps if you try to go up frontways on the older ramps? I've still got a nice big sturdy pair of ramps of a similar vintage, might have even been my grandfather's so possibly 50s or 60s but never tried to put a modern car on them. For now the sheet of...

All this stacking wood, 30 degrees and stubble fires makes it hard to imagine deep snow! I suppose you have a continental climate there. Those hair clippers are great, got some 25 years ago and never looked back, Mrs just whizzes over it every 6 weeks or so and Bob's yer uncle. Still on...

Yes that's pretty gutting. Liked your Renault 6 story, sounds like a similar thing and that the repair shop knew exactly what to do based on experience. They were probably similarly constructed, there was a family likeness and I recall the 6 was known as a 'mountain goat' due to a go-anywhere...
