VIN number and Chassis number; same?

OK so that's one of the amended style VINs, I wasn't sure whether or not they came in as early as 1980. I haven't got any experience of those but I would assume that the VIN stamped on the chassis should be the same. That is the case on 'normal' cars, certainly all the ones I've had as far as...

VIN number and Chassis number; same?

Yes, they are the same. Is your VIN on the plate one of those nine figure numbers starting with 9 and ending in a letter, presumably 'C'? I'm not sure how the numbers were applied when Land Rover changed the layout of all the VINs but I would have thought both the plate and the chassis would...

    E10 Petrol

They should drop all this shyte if they're going for the phase-out of new ICE vehicles, it's not really sound to bung ethanol in the petrol because the ethanol has to be produced at some carbon cost and also crop cost, plus you burn more fuel due to the slightly lower energy content so I can't...

I can see that getting that lot done properly would be fiddly but it's coming on nicely.

Series 3 109 Six Pot Rebuild Thread

Looks like a nice fit now. Probably best to repaint it as you say because the factory paint sounds like it was a bit rubbish.

    Fog lights

They look good. I see what you mean about the positioning though.

VIN number and Chassis number; same?

    Likewise, exactly.

    Second hand car market

I'll have a look through the backup discs for some photos. Maybe we need a new thread - What else did you used to have in your garage?

    Second hand car market

Makes me sick that circumstances led me to have to sell my last classic car (not including the Landy of course)....... in 2008. It was before any of the financial crash blew up but I didn't get as good a price as I would have liked, especially as it was filled with spare parts as well. If only...

    My Santana

Thanks, I liked it too. Here's a few more photos for you. It even got snowed on once... And putting that roof rack to good use.

    My Santana

Thanks, yes the older 'Series' ones do have character. They changed along the lines of the move to Defenders in the UK but then started to deviate more, much later purely 'Santanas' started to become quite different. Looking through the backup disc there's a few more photos, including when I...

Series 3 109 Station Wagon, full ground up resto and 88 redo careless resto driving project

Good idea, I hope it works out. From my experience of moving unhitched trailers around, the main thing to avoid is it tipping towards the rear, so putting more weight towards the jockey wheel solves that. Probably pointing out the obvious tho :)

    My Santana

A few more photos The rubbing strips on the sides make it look a bit different and it's also got the bars on the bumpers. And the radiator grille is the familiar shape with slightly different wording...

Series 3 New Owner, New Problems - Rear Springs

I wouldn't be too hasty, I know it's gutting to be conned to any degree and you've had a couple of nasty experiences with the tyre and the loom. However you have bought the vehicle now and that is the major outlay so if the spring hangers are the only serious thing requiring work, they would...

    My Santana

I have read that there is sometimes some hot debate as to whether a Santana counts as a proper Land Rover at all. I did mention in my introduction that I once owned one and I can assure you it was pure Series Land Rover, with the exception of certain things like the radiator grille, gauges and...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Had a bit of a tidy up today and found that the rats are back. Damned Britpart handbrake gaitor which disintegrated after about 2 years, I only replaced it to keep them out. The main problem I have with rats is the damage they do, such as this: I'll have to pull it apart and check to see if...
