Had the same problem with mine. Sprayed with WD40 to clean latches, then re-greased the latches, problem solved.

I believe there is a heat sheild on the L322, but the exhaust system is solid, I'm going with the drop links as the first port of call.

Yep everybody I have spoke to suspects first of all drop links, will have them looked at in the first instance. I have had the rear hub bushes all changed as I had the notorious squeak which in the end done my head in.
