Starting to lose faith after O2 sensor change

My front prop shaft recently came apart at the front UJ and hit the O2 sensor bending it slightly. The engine seemed to be running just fine, but over the following weeks, having replaced the prop shaft and the transfer box (because it smashed that too!) I noticed the engine note wasn't quite...

    Broke Down Again!

Report back after two weeks of use. The car is running beautifully, no water loss, no oil usage, just a lovely V8 burble and plenty of power on tap. I'm very happy with the work that Turners and my local garage did to rectify the fault, can't recommend them highly enough.

Where is this fluid coming from?

It sounds to me like the the air-con drains are blocked. If you get underneath and have a look above the gearbox, there are two drain pipes coming through the transmission tunnel, they are black rubber and have a crossed opening (you will know what that means when you see them) push a...

who to buy a remanufactured engine from

I used Turner Engineering and was glad I paid their price. They had fitted a new Land Rover supplied oil pump as part of the deal, the oil pump failed about four weeks ago, snapped the timing chain and bent some valves. Without any fuss, Turner Engineering put everything right at their cost, I...

    Broke Down Again!

The garage rang today to say that the Range Rover was ready for collection. It's been a while, but they knew I wasn't stuck without it. I have to say that Turner Engineering have been excellent and are true to their word in every way. It was worth paying the price that I did originally to...

    Broke Down Again!

The company who supplied the engine are paying for all of the work, have supplied all of the parts and have done the work on the replacement valves in the heads. To date they have been excellent. I only had to write two emails, one to make them aware of the initial problem, one to give them the...

    Broke Down Again!

Sorry about the slow updates, the heads went back to the engine supplier and they found that six valves were bent. They have done the required work and the heads are now back at the garage. The garage will be re-building my engine on monday and it should be ready some time this week.

    Broke Down Again!

Update My garage have discovered that the reason for the oil pump failure is that a screw has come out of a gear wheel, i'm guessing a locking screw, got in between the timing chain and camshaft sprocket and snapped the chain. This also caused part of the oil pump to come through its casing...

    Broke Down Again!

Well, I have just had a very positive response from the engine supplier who will be speaking with my garage on Monday. I hope to be able to post good news soon. it's early days yet, but the quick response from my engine supplier is looking like they didn't get their good reputation for nothing...

    Broke Down Again!

Update! So the garage have just had a look at it and the bits of metal did indeed come from my engine. They came from within the oil pump and made their way through the oil pump casing, the top right hand side to be accurate. Now, this engine hasn't been in for twelve months and came from a...

    Broke Down Again!

Driving home last night on the motorway I noticed smoke coming out of the back of my car. There was no loss of power no no change in engine note and no mechanical noises clunks etc.... I was approaching a slip road so slowed down and came off the motorway, as I approached the bottom of the...

    Transfer Box

Yes, checked the viscous coupling, it is fine. At the time this happened, I had noticed a vibration a few days before and had ordered a set of propshaft universal joints to do the job the following weekend. I should have left the car at home and gone in another, expensive lesson learned. But...

    Transfer Box

2000 Model V8 Vogue (LPG) A few weeks ago my front prop shaft came apart at the front diff end whilst driving at motorway speed. I got the RAC chap to take the prop shaft off and then was able to get home and fit a new prop shaft. But when I was pulling away with some force, there was...

    Hawkeye?

My car is a V8, the security relearn wouldn't work when I needed it, had to borrow a Syncmate from another board member.

    Hawkeye?

I bought a Hawkeye and wish I hadn't, the security re-learn doesn't work, in fact it doesn't really do all that much that I consider useful. I am going to put mine on eBay and buy a Nanocom or Faultmate, they seem to be the ones to go for.

    Wobbly ass at 58!

In my experience, unbalanced front wheels usually cause vibration through the steering, not sure about the back wheels being out of balance and how you might feel that. I thought that the rule for vibration in the seat was transmission related.

    Wobbly ass at 58!

Propshaft universal joints I would think. Had that myself recently, UJ's at the front were far worse than the back but did them all - no more wobbly ass!

    Coolant

Looks like the best option is distilled and de-ionised water mixed 50-50 with ethylene glycol then. It would have been interesting to try the "waterless coolant", but at that price, I'll give it a miss. Anyway, I quite like watching Ed China & Mike Brewer, wonder if they have it in their cars?
