2k certainly isn't good for you Danny, not that you're concerned now but google isocyanates if you are interested. But I agree, I haven't died yet either.. o_O

buying a whole kit to repair swivel ball housing.

Yes, ones with part number ending in 'G' are OEM spec and are supplied with Timken bearings, corteco seals etc.. And yes they come with half shaft flange gasket amongst others, everything you could need is supplied in the kit. Although I would possibly suggest new ball - axle bolts. 7 of from...

    Replacing or reskinning front doors?

I removed a rear door skin not so long back to have the frame galvanised, the skin was trashed by the time I was done due to the adhesive being like **** to a blanket.. In the end I wasn't too bothered, as new skins are cheap (for rear doors anyhow) and just ripped it off.

    Chassis and Front bulkhead

Thanks chap :) Something that actually very nearly happened a couple of months ago, planned on doing one for a chap on here until a week before I was due to start I had a letter drop through the door reporting me for running a business, (again) So that was the end of that, but all's well that...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Thanks for the info, interesting, seems a few people have to try a few to eventually find someone decent, I've tried quite a few locally and non are brilliant, either expensive (this chap) slow (previous chap) don't answer the phone, don't get back to you are just generally aren't interested. I...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Well the bulkhead is back from blasting, seems it is even worse than I imagined :( I expected top corners, foot wells and some of the top rail, but their is holes everywhere.. I can certainly see why people pay the money for them already done.

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Thanks for the reply and info boguing, seems he is expensive, and as you say, you would think it would be cheaper up here than down near you, such as it is. This bloke says he charges £35 an hour, maybe he just isn't very good/fast (or his equipment isn't) and it takes him a long time, I don't...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

So Mr shot blaster came to see me tonight, don't really know why, but he said he would come and see me and give me a price, fair play I suppose it saves me taking it their for the crack. Said £100 for bulkhead. £30 for pair of inner wings. £40 for 2 bonnet frames, cappings and tailgate cover...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Yep, galv was much cheaper than I originally thought :) That is the plan :) Hopefully the neighbours wont even see me, but we'll see, it will probably take quite a while to sell ours. And no worries mate, no rush, just give us a shout if or when you get the time. 'tis one of mine too :)

    300tdi into a 90

You see I was always under the impression the disco box was longer until someone (I forget who) told me they was the same other than the selector shafts. Now this may make sense as if you go on some of the gearbox suppliers websites they sell disco to defender conversion parts kits, which is...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Cheers bud :) I do from time to time, more so this year than ever actually, doing the patio, paths, and more paved area's for all my ****'e, and again even more so over the last few weeks as we are putting the house up for sale and needed a general clean/tart up. Oh, apart from the cooking meals...

    Replacement rear shock advise

In which case I would go with the metalastic type, and good of you to make the offer of the press, I usually do the same for anyone local to me.

    Replacement rear shock advise

Britpart super-gaz shocks are good for the money and have fitted them on several vehicles now. Regards bushes, it's always going to be down to personal preference, personally I prefer OEM metalastic type, more work to fit, (I.e needing a press) but will generally outlive the poly bushes. That...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

I could live with 2 weeks, last time it took 10 weeks for my stuff.. And how cheap is not cheap for the galvanisers bud? Some of the stuff I had done came out a bit rough looking, but as I was painting it, it didn't matter too much, but would be nice to have a good smooth(ish) finish for some...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Blasting just someone locally. Hopefully a better experience than last time which took months. The galv, likely Joseph Ash Derbyshire way out, I used Worksop galvanising last time, who lost my rear door and a couple of other little bits, so I wasn't best pleased. Unless you have any other...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

So, where was I.. no update for a while, although not a lot has happened. Still need a donor, been looking and proving more difficult than I thought, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough. So until I get one I don't have a massive amount to do, well I do, but not in the order I want to do it in...

    Defender front grill

Not sure why you want to make your own, replacement units are both readily available and cheap as chips. Unless you are looking in the wrong places or want something aftermarket, in which case, yes they charge a premium, sure I paid £150ish for my nakatanenga heritage style grill, compared to a...
