    P38A Steering squeal

All centred nicely, recently had the tracking done after fitting new track rods, drag link and steering damper. As mentioned this has been there for the past 10 years or more, never gets worse or any better come to that!!

I will try that next. TBH I only usually have one side up at a time, I do have 2 stands though so I will give it a go. It isn't causing any steering issues as it is, it is just one of those annoying niggles and doesn't appear noticeable from the outside because no one ever seems to look

    P38A Steering squeal

Stops, only does it when turning, just like a dry bushing, however, that would mean it would do it both left and right

    P38A Steering squeal

All present and correct sir. The noise starts pretty much as soon as you start to turn the steering wheel to the left.

    P38A Steering squeal

Deffo not the belts as they are fairly new and very quiet. Fluid was changed in March and I had additive added. The noise seems to sound quite low down the column although it is one of those noises that is rather hard to track. Its odd that it only occurs on left turns and not on right. As...

    P38A Steering squeal

Hi Keith, it always sounds like the column, no squeal from the tires. It does it as soon as you start turning left, not so much driving but when negotiating a car park or parking etc. Also does it when stationary, as mentioned, it has been there for many years, as far as I can see/hear it is not...

    P38A Steering squeal

For years I have had an issue with the steering but have lived with it. It steers fine but when using left lock when turning (at any speed) it makes an awful noise as if something in the steering column needs lubricating. I have oiled any oil-able areas but it still makes the infernal noise. Any...

    P38A Seat mechanism

Found the little buggers, a very cheap and easy solution Keith, I also had some very small zip ties which fitted in the groove a treat. The grommets I had had a tad bigger inner diameter so I just hacked a bit off and with the zip ties they're are as firm as anything. Now on to the the next...

Good call, hadn't thought of them, I have loads of them somewhere, cheers Keith

    P38A Seat mechanism

Just refurbishing my seats and cleaning/greasing the drive mechanisms. At either end of the drive screws there appears to be what looks like rubber bump washers. These have just gone hard and have disintegrated, couple of questions, do I really need them and are they just there to prevent the...

    P38A HEVAC

Right, I am now extremely confused, I have just picked the car up from having the service done, this had nothing at all to do with the HEVAC just oils and brake checks etc. I jump in and drive away, no book fault on the HEVAC and the face vent is blowing cold air in my face. So I switched to...

    P38A HEVAC

Thanks, I didn't actually touch the motor on this bit of surgery, I replaced this motor years back. I will check however when I get the back later today. I am wondering if when trying to get the ducting back in I inadvertently dislodged something as it was working fine prior to this. I guess I...

    P38A HEVAC

Many thanks and much appreciated, I am just psyching myself up for when the car comes back from the service....... I have found some pics on this site and google but none really show where I may have disconnected something, so basically the distribution motor area if you could. Can you confirm...

    P38A HEVAC

I am looking a various pictures of the HEVAC trying to see what I may have dislodged, the car is out for a service so I cannot physically see the gubbins

    P38A HEVAC

I cheated, someone way back in the past had done the short cut so I have gone in that way again. I actually replaced the distribution motor 4 or 5 years ago when I found it had been chopped.

    P38A HEVAC

Many thanks, I am wondering though if I could have dislodged something while re-assembling after doing the Orings, it was working before I stripped everything (or I think it was.....)

I hope you disconnected the battery, air bags are a right royal PIA when they throw you out the tailgate

Thanks Keith, I was hoping that would be the case

    P38A HEVAC

Thanks, I wasn't thinking about that bit, I have tried that and all works as it should and gives correct feedback, the face/lap shows that it is ok but the air still only goes to the feet no matter where you force it to go. I must have dislodged something when I did the "O" rings. Oh well back...
