    What makes an enthusiast?

Not an enthusiast yet then because I haven't advised anyone and rely on Haynes and this forum Tight enough not to want to buy new on finance and buy in cash what I can afford. Not tight when it comes to preventative maintenance. Since started driving I've desired to be able to fix own vehicle...

    Notchy gearbox

Mine was crunching growing down the box to 2nd. Changed oil and filter like you and problem is taken care of. Like you, also, I now have a leak because before the oil level was too low to be able to leak. The drip on tarmac is right under rear of transfer box where propshaft bolts to. Must...

    What makes an enthusiast?

I wear a bonnet if that helps the image? Surely I've earned the right to participate in this stranger waving at passing defenders? Anyway I'd be claiming on the warranty for that chassis lasting only 11 years!

    Worrying Whine

Bob is gay option? Different tyres can cause funny noises like bearing failure. Also you can get your symptoms if tyre sizes differ from fronts, even just differences in wear levels between front and back. True story. Council van goes to garage with bearing noise. Young mechanic decides its...

    110 drivetrain heavy resistance.

Wasn't as severe but recently had similar symptoms. Turned out when I had put gearbox back in I hadn't bolted handbrake outer cable up the rear of where handbrake is mounted. Caused handbrake to stick on, lots of resistance and juddering. Thought a prop was about to fly off

    Over 30 = MOT exempt...new EU directive!

Elsewhere in Europe probably folks upset that mot testing introduced. Why should they have it if it hasn't been used for three decades?

    Steering Drop Arm

Got the job done by using ball joint kit. Took about half an hour to strip and rebuild. Kit came with threaded rod with big washers which were to push the recessed cup out and in the arm. Then for a further two hours tried to fit the lower boot retainer..... Was pleased with the britpart...
