Can see the same spots the fabric doesn't strecth enough than mine has. The corners in the rear passanger "map pockets". That martrim fabric just isnt stretchy enough to all directions. I ordered 15 meters of black to be able to do two headliners and have spares if someone else locally needs it.

Plenty of welding and a huge quote. Can't say how correct and good that quote is, but no way I would scrap the car for that, bor would I pay that for the welding. The D1 I just bought is waaaaay worse, and I am going to buy a welder, learn to weld etc. I'd recommend You do the same. My opinion...

It goes to a bolt in the head, just between the bulkhead and the head right there. I forgot to put mine back on the head when doing headgasket, and just put it under some bolt near there in the head.

Once I took my D2 to a shop for an alignment, they couldn't do it, they said there is not enough adjustments.... or something.. If I remember right, the bar behind the axle was tightened up as short as it goes etc. Apparently adjusting two spots was too much for them. Had to learn to do it...

Isn't that the connection for the EGR cooler? If there nos hose in it and no EGR cooler on You D2, You cab just blank that off with a plug. I have EGR and the cooler removed, and have a 18mm silicone plug on that connection in the expansion tank. .. I also have the BMW expansion tank...

Or maybe just water in wrong places? Had the same happen on our v8 when we got it. It was raining and getting it off the trailer and under cover, it had time to seep water in wrong places and it opened the sunroof.

The option b mod isn't too bad to do, can't see a reason to buy a new shuttle valve and mod that when You can mod the existing one. If that fails, then get a new one. Can be done with abs lines intact and fluids in but is a bit of a fiddle.
