    ANR2858 eye cross rod

Ok, so i am replacing the drag link and track rod end, and long story short i cut the tube down to get it in a vice and this is where i'm at presently, I thought i'd left enough to not cut through the threaded part, not realising there's an unthreaded section too. I was using a 1mm disc and it...

300TDI or TD5? Which one to get?

I have a 90 300tdi and a disco TD5 while the td5 is "smoother" for want of a better word i have so much more faith in the tdi because of it's simplicity, it seems to be a fairly robust unit, not the most powerful but can be tuned to an extent. By the way, my tdi literaly is "meh"

    Disco 2 24 hrs in

I did mine last month, got the kit from x8r on eBay £15, delivered next day. Fairly easy to do, but the 15mm nut on top is a pig. On reassembly I put a small scrap of cloth over the socket then pushed the nut in to the socket to hold it tight while I manouvered it back in place. A 3/8 socket...

    A Frame towing

Yes you're right in regard to the weight, but the a frames for motorhomes are specifically designed and made for attatching small cars to them. The point I was (clumsily) trying to make is that there's a bit of a difference between towing a smart car with a motorhome utilizing a purpose built...

    A Frame towing

Those cars are generally aygo's & smart cars (under 750kg) so fall into the unbraked trailer class

    A Frame towing

Having a feeling of deja vu here, did you manage to move the swb you asked about last year? :)

    A Frame towing

You can only use an A frame to recover a broken down vehicle. Therefore the broken down vehicle should have insurance and mot and tax (If applicable) to have been on the road in the first place. It is not a means to transport a vehicle. A proper car transporter trailer is only about £50 per...

I'd just like to say thank you for the tips and advice for this job, now done, i decided to solder directly to the loom rather than introduce another connector. just got to change the front right sensor (or hub assembly) now.

What does it take to rip someone off?

Sounds like you've been through the mill with this, at least you shouldn't have to do a chassis swap ( As I have) sounds like it's just on going maintenance on a 20 odd year old car, everything is replaceable or repairable, you'll get to know the car properly as well. I learnt a lot about mine...

Steering wheel threads are very old?

As I turn my steering wheel from lock to lock you see the height difference of the steering wheel rim from top to bottom against the dash (As a reference point) if that makes sense? It doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it though. Just reread your post, if the column was bent...

Steering wheel threads are very old?

That does sound like the column is bent, that's not the problem with mine

Steering wheel threads are very old?

Do you mean your steering wheel is kind of egg shaped? Mine is, I thought it was just another "defender character thing"

    old windscreen save ?

I broke mine during refitting after changing a perished rubber, was rushing a bit getting cold and dark, new screen was cheaper than my excess. Old one was a bit scratched and had a bit of water ingress in bottom corner, but was hoping to get it back in though cos I wanted to fit heated in the...
