    Disco 2 Lack of power

I'm not saying it can't happen, it's very often quoted yet I've never seen, during my searches regarding power loss, for which I have done many times having had various related issues, anyone who has actually found a delaminated hose to be the cause of their problem.

Disco 2 Does this look like a good buy?

Looks like a few minor issues which can easily be sorted. However, what else could be wrong which the MOT won't cover?... check it out carefully first. The corrosion issue you mention shouldn't be a problem unless you are gay....

For it to work properly....

    Disco 2 Lack of power

I think that's a bit of a fallacy. Inlet hoses after the turbo are under internal positive pressure, therefore should 'inflate' even if delaminated.

So the suspect is the intercooler...

I've also noticed a bit of smoke on acceleration, only at night in the headlights of a following car. Not enough to be noticeable in daylight.

    Disco 2 Lack of power

No cat. It's a 2001 10p engine. Since January, it's had head gasket done, recon turbo, fuel pump, 2 fuel filters, 2 air filters, drain and top up of gearbox oil but it now seems to need a heavy right foot to squeeze power out of the engine. I'm thinking boost leak but all hoses and small pipes...

    Disco 2 Lack of power

Yes. It's been unplugged for ages. It's also recently had a new injector loom as a precaution, even though the ECU plug was dry.

    Disco 2 Lack of power

It did for a while, this isn't anything like a dead turbo, just struggling more than it should.

    Disco 2 Lack of power

Here we go again... I've noticed recently, my D2 auto is lacking in power. It had a new fuel pump a couple of months back and a gearbox oil change (Well, half of it, as we know how it works). All seemed fine after. It started to get sluggish especially on hills so I changed the fuel filter and...

Search "ABS shuttle valve". Loads of info on it and seems to be your problem.

Does anyone use this sort of additive?

I wouldn't know but that's what it was. Surely it can't be that unusual?

    Disco 2 TD5 - Fuel pump failure?

Bucking is normally overboost. Wind it down a couple of threads (So more are showing) on the wastegate rod and see how it is.

    Discovery TD5 auto starting problems.

Check the little spade connector on the bottom of the starter motor. It may well be on but it could be loose or dirty. That was the issue with mine with exactly the same symptoms. Next time it happens, reach under and give it a wiggle. (Oo-err) if it starts, that's your problem.

Yes John, just who the hell do you think you are? Going round telling newcomers of the rules when they haven't followed forum guidelines. Shame on you...:D

    Disco 2 The Discovery 2.

I mean with the suspension, TC, HDC etc. Having said that, the disco has to be the best all-rounder, combining off-road capability with practicality and comfort.

    Disco 2 The Discovery 2.

In my opinion, the best Land Rover never built, would have been a defender body on a D2 chassis and running gear.

Power loss after starting. TD5 Disco

I read the debate, you make some valid points but it appears you didn't convince wammers.... I'm not an electrical engineer so I'm trying to simplify this into layman's terms. Based on your (and Jamesmartin's) explanations and the link you provided, If I were to refine my earlier...
