    P38A Stuck in low range

Makes sense, but if this was the case would it continue beeping and flashing the gear light? I have not gone back to low yet fearing it will jam again and I need to take it off and start from fresh. When I have more time I will give it a shot. Probably after work. Cheers

    P38A Stuck in low range

At last an update. I have been too busy to do anything more with it and had the use of the other car so it was not urgent. So, the latest is: I attached the motor connector but did not bolt the motor in place, just left it hanging. With the ignition on I selected high range on the selector...

    P38A Stuck in low range

Thanks for that info and the pic. Does the pic show the position it should be in for high range? Thanks

    P38A Stuck in low range

Ok, some progress, its off, the motor spins with 12v. Tried each way. I moved the shaft on the box, it turns freely. Starting up with the motor connected but not fitted says select neutral and allow me to move to high range and into neutral. So selecting high range and neutral I would imagine...

    P38A Stuck in low range

OK, thanks to Saint for the advice. I have been busy on all sorts of other things so I have not managed to do anything until now. According to Rave you just need to undo 4 bolts. However I have seen some people saying you need to take the prop and transmission lock off to get enough room...

    P38A Stuck in low range

Hi All 1996 P38 auto petrol 4.6. I used low range for the first time in maybe a year yesterday. All was ok, no selection problems and it behaved as expected. Then when I went to move back to high range I had problems. Moved the selector to neutral and moved to right and into high. Usual...

P38A Message Centre Blank - Please help

Fixed. Seemed to be a fault with the switch pack wiring, as soon as I had unplugged it things were fine. luckily I was replacing it with a walnut one I had bought a few weeks back. The new one is working fine. Thanks for your help guys. Great stuff as always.

P38A Message Centre Blank - Please help

Thanks. I replaced the fuse again and left the instrument cluster disconnected, it blew again. Radio is disconnected. HEVAC has had new bulbs and was working yesterday when I tested the new motors on the heater. Will double check all connections I have disturbed. I suppose if I disconnect...

P38A Message Centre Blank - Please help

Its blowing fuses. F1 was blown, so I changed it for a good one. That blew too. Does this mean the instrument pack has a fault.......? I have done nothing to it except disconnect it to remove the dash. Plot thickens.

P38A Message Centre Blank - Please help

I think that too. I get the usual beeps, then 5 individual beeps. I hope these are the usual windows not set messages. With that in mind I would have thought the BECM is powered up ok. Double checked the plug and pins in the socket again, nothing obvious. Really odd. No gauges move, not even...

P38A Message Centre Blank - Please help

Hi Guys I have successfully replaced the bland motors by removing the entire dash and heater unit. Upon putting it back together I decided to run the engine and check for leaks around the heater O rings before putting the dash back in. So I connected up everything as per normal and just left it...

P38A Quick one - Blend motor colour coding

Right I have powered up and the blend motors work a treat. The bad news is the distribution flaps do not move. I think once the casing for the unit is all clipped back together the flaps are still too difficult to turn by hand. Comparing the friction free action this guy has in his video, my...

Thanks. So it looks like I have them installed correctly then. I will try a power up tomorrow. Cheers

P38A Quick one - Blend motor colour coding

That makes sense. Yes I have read that powering up with the motors not screwed in place will cause calibration issues. Thanks

P38A Quick one - Blend motor colour coding

This is what I have done and it all fits cable length wise. 1 has no tape on it at all to passenger side. 2 wrapped with a green tape 6-8 inches from the motor end to the driver side. 1 of these 2 has an individual blue tape at each end of the cable fits upper or lower. the other of these 2 has...

P38A Quick one - Blend motor colour coding

Do not have a grey one. Blue one reaches to the top easily. Hmm. I better no power up until I find out for sure. Nothing in Rave.

P38A Quick one - Blend motor colour coding

Hi I am fitting 3 new Valeo blend motors from Island 4x4 and need a sanity check on the colour coding. The new ones are coded with tape as follows. 1 has no tape on it at all. 2 wrapped with a green tape 6-8 inches from the motor end. 1 of these 2 has an individual blue tape at each end of the...
