Disco 2 Hub or Shuttle Valve ??

An unbranded sensor for £14... I wouldn't waste the effort of even taking it out of the box ! Get some help to do checking with a mutlimeter,or book it in with a decent independant. Adding cheap parts like that into the mix is only going to make the situation worse.

Disco 2 Hub or Shuttle Valve ??

You are going to waste time and money on a shuttle valve kit.(Its rarely the shuttle switches that fail, its the copper track above them that cracks) Fault codes for wheel speed sensors may not be 100% accurate, but they put you in the right corner of the car.I would start by doing continuity for...

How often to waxoyl a Defender please?

I have treated many customers vehicles over the years and Waxoil used to be OK... But, about 4 years ago I did my own DII - 90% of it had fallen off the chassis after the first winter. I'm now using Dinitrol and getting far better results, for instance more than 90% of what I put on my DII is...

How often to waxoyl a Defender please?

Every couple of months if you are going to use Waxoil... There are far better products that actually work.

    Automec brake pipe kit

Some were too long,so I had to shorten them and re-flare. Making a brake pipe takes just a few minutes,I really can't see much point in the kits when you can do so much better yourself. Part of that is to use stainless steel fittings rather than the brass one in the Automec kits.

    Automec brake pipe kit

Buy a roll of 3/16" Kunifer copper/nickle tube, some nuts and a flaring tool.Do it yourself after a few practice flares, that way you can make the pipes fit exactly how you want. I've fitted 2 Automec kits, one to a 80" Series one and also to a 4.2 E-Type. Neither fitted exactly, needed small mods...

    1998 p38 scanner

Expensive, Nanocom - I don't think so... My Testbook T4 cost me £10,786 with the Vat in 2003,still working well, earning its keep. Has alot of extra kit with it that you don't get with all the other tools, such as a basic scope tool with pressure transducer etc. But few people knew that,only...

    Disco 1 300tdi EDC 1997 without a Spider Security

Just a little extra info here... Its perfectly normal for an EDC equipped 300tdi to crank in the way the OP described. That the fobs worked to unlock the doors and the engine cranks shows that the fob/s are correctly coded to the alarm ecu. That it did not start was because it had lost the code...

    L322 4.4 Diesel

I prefer the drive of the older L322 TDV8 to the L405.To me the 405 just doesn't seem at all special. In terms of reliabilty, all the normal EGR faults, turbo's and usual common rail issues. I can't remember which it is, but either the 3.6 or 4.4 has a modded turbo drain pipe which helps turbo life.

Disco 2 DTCs - any thoughts?

If you are going to spend any money at all on a LR diagnostic tool, the Nanocom is the only one worth considering as a private owner. It is a very good tool, I bought mine simply to code secondhand key fobs on customers cars.It has certainly earned its keep.As I bought the TD5 version of it I was...

    Two post lift.

Just remember pits are dangerous, people and animals fall into them, petrol fumes sink into them. They are also fixed height, rarely give the right clearance to work at. I often raise or lower my ramp by just an inch to get it just right.Replacing sills etc is hard with a pit or 2 poster,just...

    Two post lift.

A decent 4 post ramp with a jacking beam is the best bet for a Defender. I spent ages looking at and using all types of ramps before I made the decision.Part of my decision was to go for a 4 poster so I wouldn't be tempted to be doing body off jobs on ****ty D3's/4's/RRS's etc. One of the major...

    Broken head bolt...Dammit!

I once had a Rover v8 in my workshop that had 5 snapped studs. I removed all of them by mig welding a blob on the top of them then used a stud extractor made by Klinn, looks like this; Most of them required more than one go,but the heat of the weld helps to release the remaining bolt or...

Disco 2 Could a slipping clutch cause driver demand faults?

The driver demand code could be due to the engine loom being shorted to earth, best to check that before spending money or time on other things.

I'd rather pay nine grand for that than the price that JLR want for any of the pikey sh-te that they make now.

Disco 1 Central locking remote ECU.

Two button fob is 1994 on,300tdi. The alarm ecu is a Lucas 10as unit, which is green in colour, about 5 or 6" long,1" thick and about 3" wide.No external coax from memory. Driver or passenger footwell - can't remember ! www.remotekey.co.uk are very helpful and good at fixing them.
