As an aside, before the’c’ pillar is fitted, I wanted to have a look at the second row seats as an upholster offered to redo them for me. No harm in getting a price, I guess? I stripped one down as they have faux sheepskin covers on them and I wanted to check the condition of the foam and...

I trial fitted it a few times before fully welding this time! 😀

Next, I moved onto the ‘c’ pillar. I made a template to get the angle correct before welding then cut the rotten section off ready for the YRM section to be tacked on.

Okay, so a bit of a confession now………..after rebuilding the’b’ pillar, I thought it would be an idea to weld it onto the new sill. Which would have been fine, if I had welded it the correct way round! I welded it facing inwards rather than out the way. After turning the air blue for a few...

After a clean up, I’ll fit it to the new sill after measuring it to make it the same as the other side. Then I’ll move on to the’c’ pillar and fit it up with the new YRM repair sections. They will need some fettling to make them ready for paint at that point, but at least they are solid!

I fitted the new YRM sections on the drivers side, then I drilled out the top seatbelt strengthening channel from the rusted out pillar, then installed it into the refurbished one. This will allow me to use more modern seatbelts safely, which is always good :)

Made a bit more progress on the passengers side frame, after trial fitting on the chassis to make sure that I got the angles correct. Thankfully it’s a good fit! After the trial fit, I welded it up and moved to the other side.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Rear subframe

, Many thanks - worth a go I think, given the costs new.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Rear subframe

Thanks very much for your reply. Some great information there and certainly some findings regarding the differences that I wouldn’t have thought of! The prices on eBay still seem to be reasonable, and I didn’t want to splash out of a subframe I can’t make fit. Would love to see the differences...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Rear subframe

Just wondering if you fitted an Evoque rear subframe as I have a similar issue with my 2011 F2? I’ve checked the LR website and the part numbers are completely different. Am I overthinking this and they are pretty much interchangeable? Cheers

Once I buy some more flap discs, I’ll dress off the welds. I also need to take off the captive nut and strengthening plate from the top of the old’b’ pillar which holds the seatbelt bolt. I’ll weld it into this one so I can fit more modern seatbelts. I’ll also repair the’c’ pillar using Yrmit...

I’m going to go back to doing some bodywork, so I am going to get back onto the sills and, ‘b’ pillar and ‘c’ pillar. First target is the’b’ pillar repair. :)

As I was on a roll, I fitted the heater motor and the ‘a’ pillar special nuts for the hinges. It’s great to be fitting bits that have been lying around for ages :)

I also tried fitting the fuel filter from the discovery, however, as usual the rivnuts were spinning in the bulkhead, so I had to order some new m10 ones from Kayfast. After fitting the rivnuts I cleaned up the fuel filter head and fitted it with new bolts and washers. To top it off I screwed on...

Managed to get some more jobs done this week. I ordered some new steering shaft universal joints. Gave the 110 shaft a wire brush and some paint to smarten it up a bit. Also fitted the 110 steering wheel temporarily. Also I fitted two new old stock drag link ends to the drag link. One is for a...

I followed the same process of drilling out all the rivet holes, disassembling, deburring and assembling using screw pins, applying adhesive then finally riveting. It certainly is a lot more ridgid with the boxes installed. It’s also a lot more useful as I can store tools etc in there. I thought...

To be honest, that side went together pretty well so I thought I would try the drivers side. It was a bit more challenging on the trial fit, as my 109 never had the drivers storage box under the seat. Again, after drilling off the side panel, I could see what had to be done. The centre section...

Once stripped, it looked a bit better, as at least I could see what was left! I took the passengers side panel off first by drilling out the spot welds using a 3/16” drill. I also build up the battery box, again using the YRM supplied 3/16” rivets and some sealant/adhesive from Toolstation.

I thought I would tackle a job that I’ve been putting off for a while - the seat box rebuild…. I had a look at the general condition and to be honest it was pretty awful! I started by stripping off the rotten battery box and the seat rails.

Hi Folks, I’ve been a bit busy fixing my other Landrover (Freelander) so the Series 3 has been a bit neglected! Made a bit of progress today though. Finished the brake pipes at the front and up to the PWDA valve. Just got the master cylinder to the PWDA valve, but I need the inner wing on to get...
