P38A Change VCU without removing Chassis Crossmember ?

I tried not dropping the cross member unfortunately it just doesn't fit. I dropped the crossmember down about an inch using a anxlestand on a jack table to support the gearbox.

Cool, rules out the data wires then. Marty is slow to reply as he is busy, so you'll have to hold fast for a reply. Hopefully he can put you in touch with the guy he works with to rebuild them.

Oh, forgot to ask, do your electric windows still work? When my data wires broke the windows stopped functioning. If they still work you can rule out the data wires.

Marty gave advice on testing the actuator on here. It might help you diag the issues without having to needlessly replace parts.

P38 Auto D. No interior lights

The breaks are generally inside the wire so not obviously visible, stick the DVM on either side of a wire (from BeCM to plug in A Post), rinse and repeat until you've tested all of them. Have you tested opening the boot with the car locked on the fob and unlocked on the drivers door? The boot is...

I got mine from screwfix, big feature for me is continuity buzzer so I can focus on checking wires and listening for a beep. Kewtech KF116. Not a lot of money and worked a treat.

Better getting a good quality DVM. Seems the wire from the BeCM to the A Post is a common failure point. I found a repair that must've been done over 11 years ago. And googling my symptoms found a fair few people who had similar.

P38A Locks, RF interface and EKA code

Last time I messaged him he doesn't expect to be back in the UK (long enough to do any work) any time soon. So you'd be holding the lock for a while.

Replaced more spill off pipe. One of them had split about 20mm soaking injector 4 in fuel and dumping half the tank on the floor. Still waiting on the gates stuff to arrive, so just going to monitor them more often and replace as soon as evidence of leaks (got miles of rhino braided crap). 16mpg...

With the car locked on the fob, but unlocked drivers door with the key, try an open the boot. If it opens you probably have a similar issue to what I did a few months back with a signal wire fault. Wiring diagram for the drivers door. I used it in conjunction with this website. I was able to...

Realistically there will be a place for them, but it isn't the battlefield winner it once was. But the same theory runs down to all vehicles. If they have reduced fuel requirements, it saves a burden for logistics. Op Newcombe in Mali. Keeping that road trail fuelled is a nightmare. Imagine if...

Jokes aside, going green in the Army isn't a bad idea though, a diesel electric tank would get incredible endurance, a LFG burns about 60l of fuel a day. Imagine a chally2 that only needed 60l of fuel with 24 hours of endurance? It'd revolutionise the battlefield.

What a coward. Should've committed to it and ride out the aftermath like a man. No chance of that happening these days though. MoD is going smoke free. Had a few lads here bust down for violating the non-smoking policy. It is wild.

It'll be reet. Is basically diesel but less oily. Our cabs throw fuel overboard on shutdown rather than draining back to the tank, so part of the job is to collect it from the overboard tank before that fills and they do dump it overboard. I fill a Jerry can and mix it with 2 stroke. Free fuel...

Swallowed so much avtur today, everytime I burp I can taste it again. Apparently I shouldn't worry unless I start throwing up. Although at that point I'll be throwing up in my fuel tank

Dunsfold request for help on Overfinch 2nd Gen EAS upgrade

No, it didn't. They wanted to make a P38 handle better than a 2 and a half ton brick on stilts so tried to adapt the system to compensate for body roll. Ultimately they shelved the concept because it just couldn't do what they wanted.

Dunsfold request for help on Overfinch 2nd Gen EAS upgrade

Damn, I lost contact with one of the old Bordon instructors, he worked at Overfinch. He told us about how they built a prototype for the P38 that would kneele the inside wheels on a corner because the EAS couldn't pump up the outside one quickly enough to stop bodyroll. Worked mostly fine, but...
