When the roof sagged on my dad's old Rover 45, he got some fur trees and drilled small holes in the liner to slip them in. Worked a treat and spaced right to look quilted.

They did say they had specific P38 diag when I first called because the guy joked about how little they use it. I'll give them a bell tomorrow and confirm they used P38 specific diag and not generic snap-on stuff.

They said they did. I didn't think to ask what they used.. Had to dig it out of storage as they haven't used it in ages. I wonder why nothing was recorded. Unless they lied.

Had her in the specialist today. Although the gearbox is slow they don't think it is the reason for the engine cutting out. Nothing comes up on diag, even though EML flashes on a lot, so I guess it is only a soft fault... or P38s don't record faults? They have suggested sending all 6 injectors...

My MAF stopped working again this morning. Guess cleaning it just bought me a small amount of time. Which is a shame. I was enjoying fuel going a lot further.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

This is my first time. I was suspicious over the weekend because I felt terrible, but LFTs kept coming back negative. Was only this morning it ping positive and I feel like I am over the hump, beyond a tight chest. Guys at work have had it 5 or 6 times and they have a super spreader event...

The lower part of the table says the gearbox and tbox are to be in neutral, which means they are referring the powered brake testers so it seems LR consider them to be the same thing. In RAVE.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I found the roller test info while going through rave to find timing chain procedure. You have to disable ABS and TC. If you use a single axle tester you need to remove the static propshaft. So you can test the brakes but you'll get ABS faults on the dash. That needs testing by conducting a road...

    P38A 2.5 DSE Vs DT

Fog lights were only available with manual diesels. Due to the location of the auto gearbox cooler it was never an option. But absolutely every option was available on every trim level. Although if you want off piest they branded it autobiography, but it could have absolutely zero toys, bar a...

It can cause issues, the VC hates it and in worst case scenario can cause expensive bits of metal to turn into glitter.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Got it in with the Landy specialist on the 20th* as that is the earliest date they had. They're gonna throw it on diag to check the faults and then check the timing gear to see what needs replacing. They haven't worked on a P38 in some time so no one can remember. *Pending they can find their...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

FIP was done less than 50k ago and Injectors were done about 60k miles ago. Unfortunately when I was getting the FIP done I suggested doing the chain and tensioners while they were in there, but the guy doing the job said he wouldn't have the engine cover off during the work so it'd be loads...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I guess it stands to reason. As far as I am aware it is the original chain and I am a stones throw from 270k on the clock. Never really got a lot of history with this car, but neither the chain or tensioner have been changed in my ownership.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I used up my last can of brake clean on the EGR, it is shiny shiny clean. Lift pump was replaced I think 2015 or 2016. I'd hope it isn't dead yet. #4 injector was replaced around the same time. Would a slack chain bring up the MIL?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Not that I am aware of. Although there are a good few P38s round here, none of them are on here so I guess Yeovil just sucks. I was thinking about it in the shower while washing off the schmoo. It is going to be the FIP. MPG is well down, engine cuts out when load is put on the engine at idle...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Okay, good news bad news for me. Cleaned the MAF and EGR. Rebypassed the EGR, MAF now isn't on bypass. Unfortunately engine still cuts out when selecting gear. Mostly it is a direction change that does it, so drive to reverse or reverse to drive. Park to drive isn't too bad, nor drive to park. I...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

A garage would be so nice, got the tools I needed and the sky opened. I am guessing EGR is sus since it appears to be leaking black sludge out the diaphragm. I do have it blocked off, so I presume it is stuck open. Could explain the cut outs. Just got to find a garage round here that can plug...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Pretty sure the old bus hates me at this point. Just started a new trend. Stalls when I select a gear. Been told it could be (in no order): Gearbox oil dead. TC dying FIP dying #4 injector dying Vacuum hose between inlet manifold and fuel filter Fuel filter blocked [Edit: EGR blocked maybe?] So...
