FL1 Td4, Vacuum system unit - full of oil?

Hi. I've read several threads concerning a lack of power upto the 1500 - 2000 RPM range, where several learned individuals pointed the finger at the vacuum system being to blame. I have noticed that over a period of several months that my Td4 was also hesitating to pull away from roundabouts...

    Fl1, Td4, 2006 - manual, needs a new L/H engine mount.

Yes, Nodge, you're right about that. Also, if anyone might be interested, the centre bolt that runs through the rubber should be the first bolt to be loosened. It's so tight, my one was, the entire unit needs to be in the vehicle so it can be undone as a lot of applied torque is required.

    Fl1, Td4, 2006 - manual, needs a new L/H engine mount.

Hi everyone. I’ve just investigated the L/H engine mounting on my 2006 FL1 Td4, the one fitted to the chassis below the battery box, and it’s split. I’m now looking to replace it but cannot locate a spare – anywhere. As a rule I use Ebay, but there are none for the L/H mount. Can anyone help me...

FL1 - Engine mounting, lower tie-rod. Fixed. Cheap too.

And that is what seems to be happening. The original rubber mounting is so soft the engine rocks as it shuts down. By siffening the mount the rocking motion is reduced and all seems better. I am now preparing to do something similar, or to replace the units with Poly bushes. Rubber is subject to...

FL1 - Engine mounting, lower tie-rod. Fixed. Cheap too.

Hi - again. My last update on the bushes. My wife & I just did a two hundred + Km's round trip yesterday, shopping for furniture, of all things. Anyway, the front suspension has been run and tested, with only positive results. Jeez, even the engine stops quicker - and smoother. It was the fact...

FL1 - Engine mounting, lower tie-rod. Fixed. Cheap too.

I will probably buy a proper bush, eventually. But living in Spain the temperatures are extremely high and rubber goes very soft. I'll keep everyone informed how this quick-fix repair progresses.

FL1 - Engine mounting, lower tie-rod. Fixed. Cheap too.

I took the car out again today and all seems well. However, as you say Grumpy, there may be something else that could be masked. I will monitor everything very closely.

FL1 - Engine mounting, lower tie-rod. Fixed. Cheap too.

Hi everyone, especially Freelander 1 owners. I’ve just carried out an exercise that could be said to be ‘questionable’. Please allow me to explain. When I parked my FL1 on a slope, the engine seemed to shut down with a vibration, causing the exhaust to knock and the bodywork to shake. I...

Excellent ending, Grumpy. lol ... My delay in replying is I have just moved house and my computer went tits-up. I've had to replace the HDD as well as reprogramming it while moving into my new abode. Jeez, what a palaver! Having said that, yesterday, I removed all four injectors - to clean and...

Just back from the Isle of Sky, driving thousands of miles.

Oh, one more thing, and it's something that I reckon is most important. It was quite a few years ago that, during my years of learning - including medicine, that I learned of the following knowledge. And this is something I have lived with and enjoyed for several decades since. In 1942, a female...

It's not that they will not notice me, but the fact that they are so drunk from my blood the fly into cliffs and rocks, thus ending their days - hopefully. lol

Sci-Fi, sex and a very good read about where we, as humans, are heading. Oh, and engineering too.

Do as I do and drink lots of alcohol. It seems to work. Or that's my excuse anyways! lol My wife, on the other hand, doesn't drink very much and gets bitten rotten. Good luck.

Just one more photo. It's Eilean Donan Castle, as portrayed in many a movie. It's shown in the background of this photo. There were so many tourists it was the closest I could get for a photo-shoot. If anyone might be interested in reading my first novel, 'An Alien Affair', which has been...

I've just managed to find some photo's from my travels. The main one I am attaching has Glen Coe in the background. What a fantastic trip we had. Oh, so Skye fossils as well as U-Boat Pens at La Rochelle, France. We visited Dunkirk, the Normandy Beaches & La Rochelle Pens as too. A great...

Just back from the Isle of Sky, driving thousands of miles.

Hi everyone. Have I got a tale-to-tell? I’m just back from a drive between Southern Spain ( where I live with my wife, Freelander 1 Td4, 2006 ) and the Isle of Skye, Scotland. I went via a DFDS Ferry from Amsterdam to Newcastle, so basically drove through six countries to get to my favourite...
