    Freelander TD4 Engine Undertray?

Yes. I have this habit of taking photographs as I progress. I will record everything that is relevant to carrying out a successful operation. On top of this, I received new brake shoes today, including springs and clips. I'm devoting lots of energy to keeping vehicle I recognise as one of the...

    Freelander TD4 Engine Undertray?

Excellent. My question has certainly been answered by all who (quickly) responded. I'll check it out tomorrow. I'm presently waiting on a phone call to drive to the local town to collect the first of many deliveries concerning my car's projects. Living in a mountain region can have its...

    Freelander TD4 Engine Undertray?

Hi everyone. I need a little bit of info that will be useful for what I'm about to do. To begin with, I have been scouring the LandyZone site for information regarding replaceing my FL1's, Water Pump + Thermostat, both drive belts and servicing the 'leaks-when-cold' HP Injector Fuel Pump. All 3...

    FL1 Fuel Filter Changed?

I've just completed replacing the Fuel Filter on my FL1 TD4 (2006). It was the last thing on my servicing list of things to do, and what a difference it has made. I'm guessing the removed unit wasn't as good as it should have been as when I test drove the car afterwards it went like the...

A Simple Method Of Testing Your Injectors.

Okay, it's the following day and I've done a MPG calculation from the one journey. Most of the drive was on mootorways, about 2/3rds, averaging 120 Km's per hour (75MPH) - sometime more. The result, after conversion from Kilometers & Litres to miles & gallons is... 38.71 MPG. I'm happy with that. :)

A Simple Method Of Testing Your Injectors.

I'm back. The run wasn't in miles, but Kilometers instead. Approx 650 each way. The engine ran perfectly, smoothly and without hesitation or anything else. WOW, for all that I've done to my FL1, this has to be the final icing on the proverbial. My wife recorded the fuel/distance information...

A Simple Method Of Testing Your Injectors.

I've run the car again, including up-and-down steep hills with lots of bends in-between. No problems at all. In fact, I had been getting some blue & white smoke when starting from cold prior to cleaning the Injectors, but now... nothing except an instant start and a steady tick-over. I've filled...

A Simple Method Of Testing Your Injectors.

I've finished it. The remaining 3 Injectors, engine stripped and all 3 cleaned to perfection. Excluding the time to get my tools out and put away - post job, it took me 1hr 30 mins, almost to the second. I'm just back from test running the car and it's as smooth as silk. Starts beautifully too...

A Simple Method Of Testing Your Injectors.

My wife, upon hearing of my repairing the No2 injector, is egging me on to do the other three. I did the No2 in about one hour for the complete job, so reckong I could do the 3 in about 2 - 3 hours. If tomorrow is sunny, as per normal - except to day, I'll go ahead and do it. I'll give another...

A Simple Method Of Testing Your Injectors.

Arctic2, you're a gem! Forearmed with what you posted in reply, along with you pictures, I belted out to the car, which was complete & running, with all my tools and ripped into the system. The No2 Injector's tip-jet was indeed fouled by muck. I dismantled it, cleaning with an aerosol can of...

Hmmm, in that case I'll remove it. It's no big deal and what you say is what I suspected. Thanks.

A Simple Method Of Testing Your Injectors.

Hi Raywin. I can see the logic & benefits to using such a device, but there are easier & cheaper ways, I'm sure. How many have access to an Ultra-Sonic cleaner, I wonder? I'll stick to simple & cheap. If it works, I'm quid's in. If not, I've learned a lesson.

A Simple Method Of Testing Your Injectors.

In addition to what I've written, since carrying out my experiment earlier today, I've formulated an idea to seriously clean the suspect injector without removing it from the car. It's all a sort of Blue-Peter kind of system (without the used toilet-rolls, sticky-backed-plastic &...

A Simple Method Of Testing Your Injectors.

My latest project. I bought Car Diagnostic Software and an ELM327 OBDII Interface lead to carry out checks on my FL1. My suspicions were that one or more of the fuel injectors were not functioning correctly. Basically, starting and tick-over could be a bit lumpy, especially when cold. Anyway, I...

Easier access to the FL1 Radio/CD player wiring.

Getting access to the Radio/CD player connections, or any other wiring behind it, can be a trifle difficult & time consuming. There’s a little trick I’ve worked out and want to share it with you all. To get access to the Radio’s rear, or whatever, one needs to remove the entire centre console...

My Td4 modifications... all done... at last.

In addition to my most recent Thread posting, where my wicked (G&T fuelled) sense of humour kicked in... I'm including the following list of components I used for my Freelander Mod's. If you cut & paste what is written into Ebay you too should locate what I used. I do get carried away with my...

My Td4 modifications... all done... at last.

Hi. I always fancied being a Radio Ham, but never got around to it. I have every respect for those who are, though. Using communications in this way must be great.
