Wanted - part worn Michelin Latitude tour - now sorted

So - Having bought a nice couple of Mich Latitude Tours from teddywood1 and got them mounted and balanced I have now got back to a matched set of tyres - 8mm tread on the rears - 6mm on the fronts. My propshaft revcounters now show either exactly the same front /back revs or just +1 rpm on the...

Wanted - part worn Michelin Latitude tour - now sorted

Hey - that's great - if they are a match it would be brill - when you say the tread was different on your new ones - were they perhaps Latitude cross? Mine are Latitude Tour - if your surplus are the same that would be great

Wanted - part worn Michelin Latitude tour - now sorted

Well - between us we maybe can help someone else with Synchrones - but I am looking for the Tours to match up my set - thanks anyway

Wanted - part worn Michelin Latitude tour - now sorted

I have been very happily running a matched set of Michelin Latitude Tour 225 55 R17 101H tyres with 5 or 6mm of tread.. My propshaft revcounters were telling me that the props were running at less than 1rpm difference to each other on smooth open roads - purrfeck......... Pothole damage and I...

Difference between 3 or 2 Amigos?

I had the TWO amigos recently - took the standard advice and changed the brake switch - bingo - result. My brake lights had been working fine by the way - I took it to pieces and could see one contact of a pair that made to a little spring loaded bridge was arced/eroded explaining why I had the...

    VCU Torque test results

Sorry Rob but why over complicate with other versions - I would worry about my paintwork trying to control a 1.9M bar sideways - but find it no bother to do both the 5Kfg and 8Kg with the 1.2M tube I knocked up for the purpose - and the two tests tell you slightly different things - see above...

    VCU Torque test results

It's not difficult to do both 5Kg and 8kg at 1.2M - you can then compare with all the realistic guys who have done it conscientiously and reported their results. (I got a Hippo Cookie (;-)) )

    VCU Torque test results

The one wheel up test is well documented - well crafted - repeatable - reliable - and informative - although unfortunately buried in flames from idiots and rubbish from blowhards - but that is the nature of public forums. It would be nice if relative newcomers did a little more research, thread...

    Freelander 1 rattley front suspension?

My experience with drop links on other cars is that cheapo parts are often either short lived or noisy from new - they are not expensive so why not stick on a good new one and see

How to recondition a VCU yourself.

So equally thanks to you too - it is a short clear and factual description - I - like others - have followed a fair bit of these threads but don't pretend to have exhaustedly followed every one - particularly when they get flamed or the less informed blowhards join in It's the first time I read...

That particular GKN explanation of the hump mode is the simplest clearest explanation I have seen - thankyou

How to recondition a VCU yourself.

One point I have not seen discussed - what is the material used in the seals on the VCU - and what is the danger of degrading them with the use of flushing solvents?. What is the safest? what should be avoided? Any facts? - (I like facts - opinions only get mired in flame wars)
  16. D

    Instead of removing VCU

I only measured a very small prop speed difference in normal hills and bends - like one or two rpm - see pics - but if leaving the drained prop on why not flush and refill with oil?

    Freelander TD4 2005

Well - on mine - when I got it the filter was bad - I replaced it with the standard filter and noticed that if I ran the engine with the oil filler cap loose it fluttered for a moment then got sucked on hard due to the vacuum in the engine. My leaks immediately diminished. Later I fitted the...

    Help, oil leak

Make sure the crankcase breather filter has been changed recently - that's cheap and should be done anyway - on my car there was engine oil oozing out of both ends when I got it and mucking up the driveway - changed the filter and after a while it's virtually dry and no longer drips.

    alarm bleeps

Well - changed the battery - it was 2.9v - replacement read 3.2v so that's probably it - it was intermittent so we shall see - just puzzled why the symptoms were different last time - maybe something else was going on then Cheers

    alarm bleeps

Anyone else? - I can't think why the symptoms of a low fob battery would be completely different this time.
