    Bulkheads

It’s available. I treated the inside of my tractor tank with it. It is an epoxy sealer isn’t it? Is that really suitable for the chassis exterior?

    Bulkheads

That look just like my welding, but I am sure someone will be along shortly to point out it is not very good, that's what usually happens when you put pictures of welding up. Look like good progress. it never ceases to amaze me how much time is spent painting during a rebuild and it is...

Early 90 heavy steering, different tyres?

If you are going to 7.50's i would be looking at one of the oem tyres although there are lots of others to choose from. I run Michelin xzl's but would also be happy the XPC or latitude cross if not doing much off road work. Tyres are very personal choice so everyone will have their own opinion.

    Overdrive very stiff?

This was going to be my first suggestion as well, Especially while you already have the handle off strip down the rest of the linkage and ensure it is moving smoothly and freely. that way if there is still the high resistance you know it must be something internal rather than external.

I have bought a station wagon

Bit an update, as I managed to escape for a couple of hours yesterday. Rear seats and rear carpet is now removed ready for removing the rear floor panels and seat box. Removing the carpet uncovered more horrors and was hiding all sorts of horrible. The large hole in the seat box where it...

I have bought a station wagon

From distant memory I think a friends '89 station wagon also had a box section crossmember when he removed the body (did it the wrong way around and converted a station wagon to a pickup!) so it may just be what the earlier ones had? Some pics would certainly be appreciated but this will be...

    Newbury 4x4 day

You left it a bit late, I bought my ticket for October back in April! I will admit however that may have been more user error not reading the date carefully enough for April rather than extra keenness to rummage around boxes of rusty rover parts!

    D1 200tdi lt77 & transfer box n bits

Are these still available? How much are you looking for them each? Do you have any idea where the leak is from on the good one? I have done the throttle spindle before if that is where it is leaking from, leaks elsewhere I would need to do some research. I need a working/rebuilt pump for my...

Early 90 heavy steering, different tyres?

I did the same thing on my series 3. The 205 are very very small tyres. The 7.50's just look right whereas the 205 look like they are too small for the vehicle. 205 is also still theoretically a wider tyre than a 7.50 so will also have a larger footprint with the floor and moor turnign...

    Spiggot bearing question

this new fangled metric system is awfully confusing ;) especially when people still use old fashioned measurements as well.

300TDI, clutch slave cyl, pushrod. dimensions

Similar to hicap phill I have never actually managed to pull the clip and the rod out when replacing a slave. I do whoever I split the box from the engine as a precaution cable tie the clip in place just in case, but have never actually had it as an issue. Although I have not don't it I know...

I have bought a station wagon

Many thanks. Does that mean my box section one is just an earlier version? Assume they mount in the same way but the c-channel one is slightly less of a rust trap?

I have bought a station wagon

Quick question for people on here. Do I have the wrong mid chassis crossmember? The one I have had delivered from YRM look like this: The one I have fitted to the station wagon is a much smaller piece of box section: The brackets that bolt to the tub look the same. They are separate on the...

I have bought a station wagon

I am not planning on taking the floor out. I am removing the tub anyway to fit it to my current 110 hardtop so was planning on standing it on end and removing the crossmembers from below and leave the floor in place. Is the hard steel fixings for the crossmembers or the floor? I thought the...

I have bought a station wagon

Little more progress to report, my load bearing fence posts have now been removed having built up and refitted the rear sides. it is now moving towards looking like an ebay special where the outside is all nice and shiny but don't look underneath! I need to remove the carpet (who thought...

Early 90 heavy steering, different tyres?

Yes you would need some 16" wheels for that but standard rims are very cheap to pick up second hand and you may even get a set with reasonable tyres as most people want larger rather than smaller. these may tide you over until you can fit PAS. I also apologies for jumping straight to the...

Early 90 heavy steering, different tyres?

The narrower the tyre the easier it will be to turn without power steering. 7.50's would have been the ordinal tyre size (I believe) and I run these quite happily on my series which has no power steering. People will claim a 235/85 is the modern equivalent to a 7.50 but these are a wider and for...

    Trouble bleeding clutch SIIa

Not sure if you have said (I may have missed it) but what brand of cylinder are you using? I will only use TRW/Lucas as I have had such poor experiences with other brands and even then they last a few years rather than the decades the originals did.

    Series 2a 69/70 wiring mess

I would agree with that, It would originally have been a brown wire supplying the fuse panel which would have had two or three fuses. With the style of fuse panel used here the jumper cables are the only option other than multiple freed wires. I prefer a busbar style fuse board with one large...
