No don’t touch the throttle at all. Normally turn ignition on, wait, turn it off, wait, turn it on again, wait, start the engine.

    Cold starting

Initially cranks over ok but then sounds like it’s going to cut out as it is spluttering tying to start. Repeats that for a while, before it finally starts. Won’t let me upload a video so you can hear it sadly.

    Cold starting

Thanks Nodge68. Yeh I got the garage to check this and they used the correct 5V plugs. It’s had a full service history and only covered 60k miles. Only issue is when it’s cold

Hi everyone. Have some trouble with my 2013 FL2 recently by where it really struggles to start in the cold. Once the engine is warm then no problems. No problems on a warm day either. Glow plugs, glow plug relay/control module, and battery have been replaced but not changed anything. Battery...

    5V or 12V glow plugs??

Hi, I have a 2013 freelander 2 and need a new set of glow plugs. Read something that says some of the FL2 have 5V plugs and some have 12v ones. Any help as to what a 2013 model uses? Thank you

Freelander 2 (LR2) Cold starting issues

Yeh the correct plugs were used. Checked the fuse box and there is a glow plug relay and fuse. Just can’t access the fuse easily as it’s behind the side cover.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Cold starting issues

Hi Not sure it’s is plug related, just thought battery and plugs is the first place to look. Not sure where else to look tbh…. Plugs aren’t easy to get to in the FL2 to test voltage. Hoping the garage did it when they put the new ones in. Any other thoughts on where to look next? Thanks for...

No error codes at all. Didn’t check the power, just got them replaced as by the time the garage got to the plugs it was worthwhile replacing.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Cold starting issues

Hi everyone, I have a 2012 freelander 2, which struggles to start when it drops below 5 degrees. Anything below zero and it doesn’t sound too healthy at all. So far it’s always started so not been left stuck anywhere. Once it has started and the engine is warm there is no issues at all. I’ve...
