I reckon if it was only owners using it then insurance would be fine, as soon as you start charging people it gets super complicated. Also a lot of land has usage restrictions for certain activities and driving would be one of them as I think it would be viewed the same as a race track.

Interesting, is that the OS app? As for lane names and being able to search/ filter things like ford's this would be a feature that would be flagged by the initial person mapping the route within the new app and then confirmed by subsequent users, much the same as when people flag up a mobile...

OK so this aligns with exactly what I was thinking! It amazes me that this doesn't exist so perhaps I need to have a look at finances and see if I can get something basic up and running to include things like that! As with most of these things it will be a numbers game... its only worth...

OK so this has got me thinking that maybe there should be something more complete and user friendly out there... app wise. What features do you think are missing or limiting within TW2? What would you like to see implemented if there was to be a new app?

Thanks for all the input. I'm not on trail wise, does it have images of the routes? Are you able to filter routes by things like river crossings, good views etc?

All good points. There are some lanes in Devon that are definitely green lanes or unmetaled but they are not that easy. Sections of rocks or patches of water. As I said, not looking for hard core, just looking for enjoyable and more of a challenge that gives a sense of achievement and adventure...

I thought Scotland had a weird thing about land ownership meaning there weren't many green lanes in the same way there are in the rest of the uk

Thats exactly what I'm looking for. Good scenery, maybe something challenging here and there like some rocks or a river crossing but mostly something enjoyable and approachable.

    Top 100 green lanes

Hi All, Some friends and I have been discussing having a project to work through in 4x4s, like a sort of scratch map or bucket list of green lanes in the UK and I thought that it would be cool to find the top 100 green lanes in the uk and then work our way through them. However, I've done some...

Just wanted to say this vehicle looks amazing! did you build the body yourself or is it a kit?

Do you know of JLR would take issue? I'm mildly worried about having some trademark or copyright issue with registering a car with LR bodywork

Registering a vehicle built from parts

I'm not fussed about resale value as I won't be putting in original components. I mentioned building a chassis rather than buying available ones as I'd rather have coils than leaf springs. The series 1 wouldn't be a show car it would be a daily driver because I love the look of them but want...

Registering a vehicle built from parts

Hi all, Some of my friends and I have come across some old land rovers locally that have the aluminium body parts in tact but everything else is totally rusted or missing. There's a series 1 and what I think is a land rover 90 and because of the lack of structural components the farmer is more...

I'd love to hear more about your conversion, maybe drop me a message! There are lots of really exciting new technologies on the horizon for power generation but at the moment they are only theoretical or working in small lab tests so range extending options are currently limited to additional...

Exactly right, the new vehicle wouldn't be registered as a land rover as it wouldn't have enough of the original components. What we would be advertising is converting existing land rovers into the new electric vehicle rather than creating electric defenders. As I'm sure you know in the UK...

The range extender we are looking at is pretty compact and lightweight so it would mean when you're driving around town you're not carrying a load of extra weight but if you do longer trips you have the option to charge from petrol rather than sitting at a pump. This would be an option so not...

Yeah JLR wouldn't sell anyway, that's the problem ineos had. There's no reason you wouldn't get compliance with a defender body as long as you built them in the same way they left the factory for the later models ie caps on end of bumbers and over exposed nuts and bolts

Our aim is to offer this with a range extender option. There would be a number of different options but for this use case a diesel generator would be best option currently. Gives you the benefit of cheap at home charging but the ease of a quick fill up while out on long drives
