    Engine swap ideas

I know the discussion has moved on a little as it looks like you have a 19j which would be one of the issues in terms of cruising speed. But the low range gearing is the same in the transfer box regardless of the high range gearing. On the engine swap though I would be recommending a tdi...

I have bought a station wagon

Very much appreciated thank you. And shows the seal mount is just riveted on as a separate part rather than an integrated part of the roof. I have just won a local truck cab roof on eBay for £30 (very dented and battered) so that will give me the seal brackets that I need and can use your...

I have bought a station wagon

The rear body is off! This revealed just how bad the floor crossmembers were so glad I got replacements for those. Will throw before and after pics up of them when they are replaced this week. Once they have been done I believe the body will be ready for fitting. So I will then need to take...

I have bought a station wagon

Quick reminder, if I could have some photos of your truck cab would be much appreciated. Apologies I forgot Friday, got a little distracted with the below update!

Order of hard top corner fixings

I think the larger holes go in the front and the smaller holes are the rear by the door. I do not think my 110 has rubber washers on the body mounts, it is only the L-shape bracket by the rear door that has the rubber washers. may be different on a series but my series is a soft top.

Oh no! Not that old fog light question again.

I replaced mine with some diy versions made out of old conveyor belting that also dropped down to the bottom of the crossmember to give some added protection to the mud trap there.

Oh no! Not that old fog light question again.

you are quite possible right, the end does look like it should. Most important thing is getting something in there so the wires are not damaged.

Oh no! Not that old fog light question again.

I would recommend the LED conversions even if you are not an LED fan, I am not. I used to replace my fog lights (converted so both sides are a fog light) every year or two when tested for MOT time. they corrode internally for a pastime. The led ones can be permanently sealed (they claim to be...

Oh no! Not that old fog light question again.

Like I said a mess I inherited from the previous owner as this is the station wagon donor not my 110! But it show the location for OP, hidden behind their fancy speakers and plastic trim panels. Also while doing work on the lights and taking the trim panels out to access and check the wiring...

Oh no! Not that old fog light question again.

Plastic? Mine are ali panels that are bolted into place. EDIT: are you referring to the underside in which case yes there is foam/rubber mud guard to protect the wiring that you can lift up to get behind. The rear light wiring will be behind the speaker. Your is clearly more upmarket than mine...

    Engine swap ideas

I do about 30k miles a year in in my '89 110 with disco 200tdi. I run the original lt77 gearbox and a 1.2 discovery transfer box and 265/75 tyres. this will sit at 70 all day with no issues. A 300tdi has the same power and revs as the 200tdi, if you do not like the high revs it is the gearing...

    110 300Tdi fuel tank outlet

It is indeed a return for the senders that don't have the inbuilt return. I don't think you will easily get another pickup without modifications as nothing else goes to the bottom of the tank.

    Replacing thermostat

I am not saying the garage are wrong but if you have a leak form the thermostat it may not actually be the thermostat itself. When I had that on mine it was just one of the horrible wire clips had rusted through behind the pipe where you couldn't see it. Replaced with a proper jubilee clamp and...

Difference between hard top and station wagon roof

Many thanks for the pictures. That seems to match what I found looking at the front door one in terms of how they attach. But the position details very much appreciated. I may have found a very battered roof for free on Facebook which if I can get will then dismantle to get the angled pieces. If...

I have bought a station wagon

Having been quoted £1350 for a station wagon roof from a chap breaking one on Facebook I am very much back to modifying my existing one! Some pics of the front door seal mount and it is just some angle spot welded to the roof on the hardtop Now I just need some photos of someone with a...

permanent live in engine bay for spotlights

What lights are you using? My led lights at the front are only about 20w but I then have 6 on the roof and 5 on the bull bar. But neither location gives as high an output as your setup. A word of warning however the ones I have on the roof (hella black magic mini) are almost too bright and if...

permanent live in engine bay for spotlights

A second on this one. And make sure you put a fuse in the battery box for the wire. The only other place is the back of the starter where the battery cable attaches but I do not like that option. I run everything back to the battery box in mine and have a full aux fuse panel in there for...

I have bought a station wagon

That was my assumption. I will have a look at the station wagon roof next time I am at the vehicle. But think it is part of the roof rather than an add on hence the different part numbers.

Difference between hard top and station wagon roof

They are the original sides for the vehicle it is an ‘88 so is an earlier one. But I know this is not on the later ones and my “spare” sides do not have this. There was a thread recently about them. That’s also an option. But as there is actually a part number for separate seal mounts on a...
