This is also true, and helpful. On the driveshafts, what is the different between K series and TD4/V6 driveshafts? The IRD is the same right? so maybe it's the CV joint end that's different?

yes there are some assumptions in here that could cause me some serious problems if I'm wrong. In my mind the position of the IRD and gearbox is fixed because of the drive shafts and prop shaft. So I'm going to be using the standard gearbox mount. The position of the block is fixed because it's...

The IRD also bolts to the block and sump at the other end of it to the gearbox, doesn't it? Does that mean that a 1.8 K series block and/or sump is different to an MG Rover one? I want to mock all this up on the floor somewhere so can I use any old MG Rover block or do I need a Freelander one...

I've been trying to find part numbers of torque converters, and failed. However this webpage https://allbrit.de/xepc.cfm?SPRACHE=DE&CAR=SARRJ&PAGE=138605 tells me that the torque converter oil seal is a different part number on a Rover 75 compared with a Freelander. Another link for torque...

The casing is different. One could go Rover 75 and forego 4wd but it would probably need custom drive shafts (R75 but Freelander CV joints). I now have a Freelander Jatco so I don't see it as being harder to do. The only difficult bit is getting it to mate to the 1.8 K series block. I want to...

anyone got any opinion on whether I need a torque converter from a Rover 75 1.8 ? or can I get away with using the Freelander 2.5 torque converter that I got on Saturday?

On Saturday I went to see a scrapped V6 (blown head gasket, interior and panels already removed). after removing the subframe and gearbox engine mount the whole nearly fell out about five hours later Interesting benefit of side opening tailgates

I think that if I was in your situation I would be tempted to have a small separate radiator circuit (like a transmission cooler) and a small electric coolant pump. Maybe you already have something like that for some other systems in the vehicle, if so just add the IRD into that circuit.

why would the coolant pipes on a V6 be fitted differently to 4 cyl ? I'm hoping that it's something to do with the V6 engine and not the Jatco gearbox

or another possibility is that the auto gearbox ECU talks to the ABS controller over CANbus I wonder what happens if you have manual ABS controller with an auto gearbox I'm guessing that it would just ignore the gearbox ECU but maybe the gearbox ECU will give annoyed that the ABS is ignoring it

another question. The ABS controller can see both engine revs and wheel speed. Maybe it's the ABS controller that decides whether you are in first / reverse or some other gear? That relationship changes with different final drive (IRD) ratios so I wonder if the ABS controller is calibrated...

Nodge, do you know if the TD4 IRD is like a 1.8K one or a V6 one? I have a TD4 IRD lying in my back garden so when I go to get this V6 Jatco I could take the TD4 IRD with me and see if it mounts on or not. But of course just because a TD4 IRD will mount to the Jatco does that mean that a K...

I think I found the answer here https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/can-i-install-ird-from-2-5l-v6-in-a-1-8l-freelander.220935/post-2501182

I would prefer to keep 1.8 gear ratios I think. When you say that the mounting points look different, do you mean how the IRD mounts to the transmission? I'm not sure if the IRD only bolts to the transmission or whether it also bolts to the engine block.

can anyone absolutely, definitively tell me whether the IRD on our late model 1.8 is going to work with a pre-facelift V6 automatic gearbox? One person told me that the IRDs are all the same, another has told me that the V6 ones are different and not compatible. I have a possibility of getting a...

I had help from Andrew Revill ( https://andrewrevill.co.uk/ ) The immo and keys are all unmodified. The R75 MEMS3 engine ECU is modified to:- A: accept crank timing from an electronic box that converts from a PG1 crank sensor to a signal that the Rover 75 ECU can accept (with modification). B...

I think that you have figured it out. C0913 pin 77 doesn't appear in a the Rover 75 wiring diagram and I don't see a throttle pedal switch either.

I made some progress today This is a Rover 75 MEMS3 from an 1.8 auto running in the Freelander 1.8 As soon as I touch the accelerator pedal I get a hill descent error light on the dash though. Throttle position and engine revs are coming though to the ABS ECU

It's a sheet of corrugated roofing steel from Selco. I flattened it by driving the Freelander over it a few times and then cut it up. There's also so some flat bar inside it that I had sitting about in the garage
