Whats the mileage, and what's the body condition like?

I guess you'd be looking at something like the opposite of this, but along the same lines if you know what I mean. FL body on some sort of custom chassis.

I remember somewhere back in the mists of time, wheel sizes and their respective impacts on range and performance were discussed on this thread. What's your thoughts now on the best compromise?

FL1s seem to be disappearing off the roads quite a bit now so I'd say give it time and values will start creeping up, mainly because they're an affordable way into LR ownership, and will remain fixable for the most part. FL2s, whilst loaded with gadgets and a much more refined vehicle may not...

It's actually £272 with VAT and delivery, after you've sent your old one back and you'll want to do the bearings at the same time, so that needs factoring in.

A £35 LP pump from ebay? I'm keen to see how this goes. Would be great if you could keep us updated on reliability/ pump life. I bought a Peirburg a while ago as I always like to buy "good" parts, but it's mega noisy and makes me feel like it's going to let go any time soon.

So today is not so much what I have done to my freelander, but more what I have done for my freelander. I have picked up a 2005 BMW 118d (so I'm familiar with the engine at least!) to be my cheap run around daily driver. This means I can now elevate the FL1 from daily driver to enthusiast...

This is probably my favourite post of the entire thread so far! To be expected. It's old and has not had the care and attention of the rest of the drive train. An unwelcome expense, but I'll be keeping it going.

Pulled approx 500/600ml of milky slime from my rear diff, and filled up with new fluid. It didn't help though. A recon unit is required!
